Here is my plan/proposal/submission for entry into the club this year.
Climb 6k meters a month. Thats it, no km goals or anything else. I expect to do about the same kms but just working more on quality, more hills more often should do the trick. I can only track it on my roadies and mtb, I dont use the garmin on my tourer/commuter and that did the most kms in 2011. So thats up to 3000km I cant count, which makes the 6k climb a month a reasonable target. I expect to do much bigger months of course, this is more to keep me honest through winter. Its all too easy to stay away from the hills when its cold and wet. Well it is when you are a unashamed fair weather roadie like me
Last year, starting in April my climbing tallys are 2.2k, 3.6k , 2.1k , 1.6k, 4.3k , 8.0k , 4.0k , 6.4k and December was 8.3k
Anyone else want to join me? Shane you are the obvious one but anyone else who expects to rack up more than 7k, consider yourselves gauntleted
I dunno if its possible but a progress bar for meters climbed would be neat! Norbs can I get my people to speak to your people?
Welcome to the 6k rookies. As long as you dont say anything bad about cougars, bad puns or Kerry O'keefe we will be cool

Nice! I'd love to join you but the local terrain won't allow it. I rode 120k on the weekend and only "climbed" 230 metersBaldy wrote:Climb 6k meters a month

Cardy, speak nicely to the 10k'ers otherwise they might make our thread go 'poof' again like last year
Now the fact that the 6k club has more women in it is yet another example of why we women are smarter that you blokes because 6k+ is doable and there's still time for everything else we need/have to do besides riding all day

Sorry baldy I’m with Cardy George on that one. Coming from Perth it would be a battle to find 6000k of climbing a month.Cardy George wrote:Nice! I'd love to join you but the local terrain won't allow it. I rode 120k on the weekend and only "climbed" 230 metersBaldy wrote:Climb 6k meters a month

I might have to join in on that. I plan on doing more hills when I get the 29er. I normally do about 3k a month when I avoid hills.

But I have been removed from the journal, I am trying to get back on. I rode 114km today, have not done that for over 5 years.

I have just started the year lugging my kids in a trailer over 28 Kms. Thats like riding a fully tour kitted huffy mtb weighing 53kg yeah and I am just a little sore after the quiet time over the Christmas break
Although Santa has renewed my interest for 2012 with new tyres and chain set
Thanks to Phil for the sig being setup for this year.
