Merry Christmas to all my fellow 6k'ers, hope that everyone had a good day with your nearest and dearest ones...

Early start for me to go for a quick spin around the river with some friends before brunch with the family.

A Rapha shirt and a Barfly mount for my Garmin were waiting under the tree for me...racing kit on order didn't make the Christmas deadline!

And with this ride done, I have hit my target and managed 29 100km rides this year.

A super effort norbs. In 2012 you have done it all .... endurance rider, media personality and blogger supreme.
Looking forward to following your exploits in 2013

Good onya Norbs. That's a big year.

I've done no riding in the past 3 days and looks like there is no way I will make the Rapha 500.

I commuted to work this morning to help with the Festive 500. Was a beautiful morning climbing over the escarpment with Lyrebirds and King Parrots for company before descending along Picton road taking in the views over the Cataract Valley, mist lying softly along the gorges. It was quite cold during the descent, especially in the shade but before long I turned off onto Macarthur Dr towards Appin via Broughton Pass and I welcomed the cleared paddocks that let the sunshine warm me up. After the Pass, it was a straight run through to C'Town with little traffic. Hoping the weather holds for the return trip this afternoon.

Merry Christmas all. :D

Great effort Norbs, a very big year!! Thanks for all your support and stories through the year.

Nice work DaveOz, an impressive effort.

Nice work Julie for edging over the line with an impeccable sense of timing. You and Dave made up an impressive amount of ground over the last few weeks. Well done Oldnewby, you'll finish well in front of me by end of year. Sounds like you've really enjoyed this year.

Thanks for everyone's encouragement and banter, has made it a fun year on the bike for me - roll on 2013.

Well done Julie for getting over the line!!!

I've just ridden the past 8 days in a row, if the Rapha was from the 20th to today I'd have it done!
Here's hoping that the weather holds for the last 195ks that I have left to do

And for some unknown reason my Strava bar hasn't changed...bu€€er

Thank you Coffee&Wine and Lisa :-) and to everyone else who encouraged me and to Norbs for starting a very motivating thread. My ride this morning put my kms at 6003 and I was very happy considering in November I really thought I wouldn't get there. Anyway my plan to ride every day in December still continues - even though I reached the big goal I still have a smaller one to complete. Seriously guys (and Lisa!) - thanks :-)

It's the getting up at 4am everyday that is killing me!

I know! Now I've reached my goal I feel like a break but I said I would do it... Why 4am? I couldn't make it through the day! I've been riding at 6 and I have to admit I've been really loving it - it is the best part of the day. Even makes work seem slightly better. Have you decided a goal for 2013 yet Lisa?

I get up at 4am to drive closer in toward work so that I can ride before starting at 8, I arrive at work by 7:30 to shower and get ready.
On the weekends we are trying to start our rides by 5 or 5:30 to beat the worst of the heat or before the arrival of the rain.

My goal for '13 is 10,000k which is doable considering that i'm sitting on 9600+ for this year...maybe 12k!
it will depend on how the crit racing goes as well!

You??

My Pleasure!

My commute home this evening left me weary and aching but not yet broken. Back is sore, knees are sore, feet are sore, hands are sore, head is tired. This festive 500 is a world of pain, nothing festive about it at all.

Anyway, I'll be getting up at 5am tomorrow to keep the kms rolling and I only have to ride another 180km in the next 4 days to score the patch. Not sure if that's good or bad?
