just wanted to say that this thread, and this challenge is a great idea. I had a look at the spreadsheet, and it looks like another great way to push each other along to riding more kms. I'm restraining myself from joining, my goal this year is 6000km, and I'm likely to get there by doing lots of shorter rides, (only been riding for 2 months). But if this thread goes again in 2013, I'll be joining for sure!

The guidelines are in the opening post ... cumulating ride distance over more than one day does not count as a single ride. If you did any one ride in one day of 100 km or more than that would count. Maybe a review of the opening post might help. Also you really need to present the rides as per the opening post so that the data can be collected and in fairness to all in the challenge.

Went out at 5 am this morning to clock up another 100km ride, heading down to Mandurah to meet up with my wife and grandson for breeky. 18 km into the ride I had a tube blowout and instant flat. Got of the bike, took the wheel of and changed tubes. Looking for the pump, still at home in my backpack as I have not put it back on the touring bike. So I walked to the closest petrol station to pump the tire back up again and headed home.

Looking back now with the bad thunderstorm they had in Mandurah this morning I was lucky not to make it.

So after my first attempt last week where I was hopelessly under prepared...ie no food and 1 drink bottle I decided to use some sense this time. Packed food and approporiate water. About 7k in to the ride i went past a car in the break down lane with its hazards on and a crying girl so stopped to help her out, ended up giving her half my water, so that held me up for about 10mins. Rest of the ride was sweet and legs felt a million times better than last week.

I had hoped to enter the challenge yesterday, but had to bail enroute to Armadale Hospital with a angina attack so not sure if I will be able to play now. Hoping (fingers crossed) to get in my 100 km next weekend subject to the Cardiologists tick of approval.
