2th Jan 112 km av. 30.5 km/h 1point
8th Jan 108 km av. 30.0 km/h 1 point
29th Jan 101 km av. 29.4 km/h 1 point

I think this last one was one of the hardest metrics I've done! Of the total distance I was on the front for around 70 km's with a fair amount of it into a headwind. I experienced some awesome cramping later in the day!

My first metric century :)

Within a week of getting my first road bike (was riding an MTB with slicks until last Monday)

28th Jan - 101Kms - Average Speed 28.4Km/H

http://app.strava.com/rides/3657442

I seriously doubt I could've done 110 - I was pretty stuffed near the end - cadence graph tells it all :)

Anyway - thought I'd post it here .. hopefully my first of many!

2012 Metric Century a Month Challenge Register

Postby gabrielle260 » Tue Jan 31, 2012 11:15 am

Sorry guys, will have to pull out of the challenge. I always knew the first 100 would be the hardest. The shoulder hasn't recovered enough to do 100km yet. The best I've managed is about 50 but it then took a couple of days to get over it. Legs are good and I can do hours on the home trainer but the slightest vibration coming up through the handle bars kills me.
Good luck and safe riding as you accumulate kms and points!

I carried a small external battery which worked well (Energizer - Energi to go). Not sure I'd do it in the rain as it potentially could let water in.

Sorry but only one Audax ride per month allowed, hence you can only claim the January 14 or the Jan 29 ride. Your call.

As I said in the training thread not sure if it is right. It was 2600 before correction which is what strava says but garmin has 4000m and training peaks 4600 post correction. Who knows what is right.

@sli - I didnt think you were doubting it I am the one that is doubting it. Yea I did a lot of climbing but I never thought it would be 4000m. Explains the speed.

I'm training for 3 peaks, and the mate I was with has done 3PC twice. He kept saying "this is what Falls is like". Except 4 times as long and with 200 km in your legs. :|
