Hi to all - new to this forum but wanted to share my experience & recipe with Maltodextrin etc.
I buy Maltodextrin & Dextrose in equal quantities from

I then mix this at the ratio of 50g of each/litre of water (giving a total of 100g of carbohydrate) plus 1/4 teaspoon of "diet-rite" salt substitute (for a good source of electrolytes including potassium).
That's the easy part as I struggled for ages to get a decent flavouring in the drink! Who wants to drink slightly sweet, slightly salty water with no flavour? After experimenting with cordial (not bad but made the drink too sweet) & lemon/lime juice (once again, not too bad but be careful not to make the drink acidic!) I hit on FRUIT TEA!
After making up a litre of mix just chuck a tea bag of your choice into the mix and allow to steep for as long as you can (use boiling water if you have the time to let it cool). You end up with a really refreshing, not too sweet, not too salty drink with just a hint of flavour kind of like those spring waters that you can buy with a "twist" of lemon, cranberry, mandarin etc.
One bottle of this mix and one bottle of plain water is good for about a 2-3 hour ride depending on bottle size, air temperature etc and it WILL stop you from bonking!
