Warne cycled off to court after road-rage incident

SPIN king Shane Warne is being sued over this month's road-rage incident with a Melbourne cyclist.

The bike rider involved in the St Kilda Rd altercation has been revealed as web designer Mathew Hollingsworth, 28.

Mr Hollingsworth has engaged prominent lawyer George Defteros and is launching a civil claim in the Melbourne Magistrates' Court.

I think the organisation that should be most ashamed out of this is the Vic Police. Very poor showing on their part.

Here's my plan. As a national day of protest and to put this nonsense about cyclists causing traffic distruption to bed once and for all, I propose a 'Leave your bike at home" day for all commuter cyclists who own and pay rego on their cars (about 97% of us I'm told) and take the car to work instead. In Sydney this will add about 120,000 cars into the traffic mix and bring the city to its knees. Every major arterial in both Sydney and Melbourne will be reduced to a car park as cyclists take their rightful place alongside those who 'own the road' and crawl along it at 5kph to work each day.

You'll need to alert your boss that you'll be late and there will be parking problems.

The message has to be; "Be nice to cyclists or they'll drive to work" or perhaps "Hey Warnie, put some spin on this"

The cyclist does not have to agree with the confidentiality clause. He would have to be very convincing to make me sign a clause like that..... something that would pay off my mortgage for example.

It was because of SW's Twitter rant that prompted the action from the aggrieved:

"Mr Hollingsworth's lawyer, George Defteros, today said it was Warne's very public outburst on Twitter about the heated run-in on St Kilda Road that prompted the cyclist to reveal his identity and make a claim "I think in a way it was brought on by Twitter more than anything else," Mr Defteros told radio station 3AW.

"There's an incident and then all of a sudden it's out there in the public domain very, very quickly. I'm not saying that anyone's at fault for this coming out the way it has but, be that as it may, it has come out so we want to put our version of events across really."

I'm guessing it is just like any car accident. Warney's insurance company writes a cheque. He's only asking for the cost of damage to the bike.

Just to add to this, some might remember that I was assaulted in May 2011.

27 WEEKS LATER, the police had finally got a photographic lineup for me to look at. I might mention that of the 12 photos that I looked at, they might have all been brothers. In that time the person had changed their appearance completely and it was impossible for me to identify him.

The police just arent interested. I wonder what would have happened if I had retaliated and given the guy something to think about. I bet the police would have been quick to have me arrested . . .

I hope this guy gets Shane Warne and then some
