Re: Ah Warney, stick to spin bowling mate.
With out a licence I wonder if he will get around on a bike. Who wants to donate him one. (just make sure he can mount a rego plate on it) Although I wouldn't have thought he could loose his licence for speeding in another country.

Re: Ah Warney, stick to spin bowling mate.Maybe he could ask Marlon Samuels for a lift?
TAC shouldn't hold back on this one. Eddie Mcguire might think twice next year before including Warne and his psychiatrist with the Melb Stars team. If his mind is this way inclined, hate to think what the rest of the team is like now. 2013 Bupa Challange at the Tour Downunder - 25th of Jan 2013 - Raising money for the Cancel Council - bit.ly/YzLYG3

Re: Ah Warney, stick to spin bowling mate.I am confused, I thought the TAC wanted everyone to slow down? Does their new research show that 65k over the speed limit is now OK?

Re: Ah Warney, stick to spin bowling mate.In fairness to the star appeal of Shane, there is a good reason why "live fast, die young" has been such a successful mantra for famous people since the 60s - the ability of most people to keep a level head under extreme scrutiny for years and years and years despite temptations to do something out of character in the public's eyes is almost zero. There are a few people that manage to keep the fire burning without enormous controversy (ACDC comes to mind) but Shane has been under the spotlight for 20 years now. He was bound to do some stupid things. I think he's a prize twit but that's inevitable given how much latitude he is given and how much media exposure he faces. If you die young, you have much less opportunity to ruin your legacy.
What galls me is the decision to pony up with this twit despite poor decisionmaking on Shane's part. I hope the marketing department within TAC (they have one!) is firing the person who thought this partnership was a good idea. If the direction is "who cares, I'm more important to a bunch of sports fans" then they've succeeded admirably, but I believe the general thrust of safety campaigns was to let people know they are not God when it comes to the road or their health or their families. Shane is such a paragon of that kind of arrogance that everyone at the TAC should be ashamed to be associated. You CAN predict these things.

Oh dear, pure clarse ...whatever the road rules, self-preservation is the absolute priority for a cyclist when mixing it with motorised traffic.

Re: Ah Warney, stick to spin bowling mate.
Was TAC also unaware of the Mr Warne's incident with a cyclist? Or is road rage acceptable, where speeding is unacceptable ? I've got stuff on ebay
Re: Ah Warney, stick to spin bowling mate.Everyone neglects to mention the numerous other offences which have obviously led to him having so few points left to lose, in addition to the countless reports of him being seen driving "briskly" by others over the years.
I must say too that I'm disgusted by the cycling Org's that also backed the promotion who said "give the guy a chance, he's appealing to the most at risk driver age group" until this happened. What's worse than the Transport Accident Compacency ignoring Warnie's cycling incident? Cycling advocates ignoring Warnie's cycling incident! Anything for more face time on the 6 o'clock news hey? Surely that age group are too young to think of warnie as a hero. bychosis (bahy-koh-sis): A mental disorder characterised by symptoms, such as delusions or hallucinations, that indicate impaired contact with reality not containing bicycles.

Obviously, there is a teflon coating involved here. I wonder what he would have to do to tarnish the image? I ride, therefore I am.

Re: Ah Warney, stick to spin bowling mate.
Yep, he's an adulterous, law breaking, drug taking, disreputable to the sport person through and through. It just goes to show that sport isn't about building character and creating role models, despite what the juniors organisers try and tell you. The instant victory is more important than your dignity, you must leave the field.

Re: Ah Warney, stick to spin bowling mate.
I like warne. As a cricket player. As a person I've never really had much of an issue apart from his actions and comments as a driver. He is a di#khead bogan, he has never tried to be anything else. It is the media, and in this case the TAC, that is to be blamed for him being a bad poster child.
Re: Ah Warney, stick to spin bowling mate.
Don't forget the gambling fraud as well. Riding bikes in traffic - what seems dangerous is usually safe; what seems safe is often more dangerous.
