These people are morons of the first degree. It's Easter and cops have a massive publicity campaign telling everybody that they will be out in force. So these people decide that getting drunk and going for a drive is a good idea. Sixth time lucky for one woman (wonder how many times she has DUI and not been caught...).
I don't understand why someone who does a burnout can have their car impounded and crushed yet a multiple DUI offender is allowed to keep theirs.
A six-time offender was among 21 drivers caught driving drunk over the weekend, with the largest number of drink-drivers caught on ACT roads in three years.
ACT Policing took more than 2000 breath tests over the Easter long weekend, with 21 drivers over the limit, including 14 possible drug-drivers.
These included a sixth-time offender who was caught on Saturday on Gungahlin Drive with a blood-alcohol reading of 0.165 - almost four times the legal limit.
The 56-year-old female driver had previously had her license disqualified following five other offences and will face the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date.
A 47-year-old Latham man was also caught driving under the influence, with a reading of 0.173.
Comparatively, police caught 17 motorists driving over the limit on the 2013 Easter long weekend, only one less than 2012 when they charged 18 drivers.
In a statement ACT Policing said they had issued 258 traffic infringement notices over the Easter period and 160 cautions, for driving offences across the ACT.
Station Sergeant Rod Anderson said he was pleased there had been no deaths or serious injuries on ACT roads over the weekend, despite large numbers of Canberrans travelling in and out of town.
"We made no secret about our highly visible presence across the ACT and NSW roads over the long weekend," he said.
Although there were no fatalities, there were two minor accidents across the weekend and a 23-year-old male was caught doing burnouts in Isabella Plains on Thursday.
"Drivers lose their lives on our roads every year so it's disturbing that some people are still choosing to risk their lives and the lives of others by driving dangerously," Sergeant Anderson said.
Double demerit points will again be in force over the Anzac Day long weekend from Thursday 24 to Monday 28 April, for speeding and seat belt offences.

.compulsory registration for all bike riders over 16 ( unless on a closed road circuit)
. CTP insurance for all bike riders over 16.
. 16 is a manageable age to be responsible for your own rego.
. Rego would be a once off fee. To acquire the plate and admin costs.
. Each state has there own rego department that is equipped to administer this.
Bike riders legally obliged to stay as far left as practicable.
. No lane filtering for bikes unless turning right.
The stay wider law is a good idea but it must also apply to push bikes.
Bike riders legally obliged to indicate their intentions on roundabouts.
Bike riders not able to filter to the front of intersections. ( we have a problem now where cars have just spent the last 5 ks trying to safely overtake a group of riders only to be caught behind again at an intersection)
. We must have the existing bike paths maintained to a high enough standard for their use.
. Riders legally obliged to use bike paths if they are there.
. All riders to wear high vis clothing at night.
. This can all be paid for with fines that are already in place. And increased detection arising from number plate recognition.
I've been banned too
If you ask too many questions that make the bogan heads hurt, and keep coming back to the same ignored question, you get banned, you post info like 4 out of every 5 crashes is caused by the driver - you're gone. So much stupid

I got banned for commenting on a photo that he reposted (without credit) from another source, but he then stayed it showed a cyclist attempting to run down a pedestrian. The photo was actually from an article about the Kent St Cycleway in Sydney, and pictured a pedestrian standing in the middle of the path texting on her phone, while the cyclists had a green light. I suggested that pedestrians should be registered so they can identified when they flout the road rules like this. Apparently that was too much for the admin and my comment was deleted and I got banned.
He does seem to be fond of reposting photos without crediting the source.

I guess they'll say that's not for us to decide how it will be implemented as we just want registration. Maybe they should increase car rego to cover the shortfall? We all know how that would go down

I just burst out laughing uncontrollably in an empty house for 45 seconds, and have that satisfied I just LMAO feeling still.. 16 is a manageable age to be responsible for your own rego.
They realise that politicians have to stand behind these proposals, and that they risk career advancement if they bring stupidity like this to the table?
CTP is about dumbest thing imaginable to bring to the table. Cyclists don't create a significant burden. Insurance for 3rd party liability sits at 80 bucks, if you are racing. There are enough crashes on the closed road course to accept that it's necessary. But the kicker is expecting 16 year olds to hold CTP compulsorily, which will only cover injuries. This would cost less than the paperwork to mail it out. Cyclists don't maim other road users. Forcing cyclists to get 3rd party property liability opens a HUGE can of worms for car owners, because many cars aren't insured. Aren't we forced at 12 to ride on the road? And heads up, I have tboned a car leaving their driveway (long long time ago). Why no insurance for 8 year olds scratching BMWs riding to school?
This stuff just beggars belief. I rant with the best of them, but you don't base a policy on it.

.compulsory registration for all bike riders over 16 ( unless on a closed road circuit) All for it if it means motorists will respect cyclists and not try and run us off the road as some do now
. CTP insurance for all bike riders over 16. To cover injuring someone, not property? That could be a fair enought thing even though minimal people get injured by bicycles, probably only a handfull each year. Don't some racing licences and advocacy groups already have this? Do people that belong to these groups get n exemption because they have already paid for it? Will I then need to carry my race licence with me everytime Igo out on the bike in case cops pull me over and think I don't have insurance?
. 16 is a manageable age to be responsible for your own rego. I guess so but plenty of <16yo ride bikes on roads too, they shouldn't have an exemption.
.Rego would be a once off fee. To acquire the plate and admin costs. So the rego is for a bike or a person? If it's for a bike, what if you have multiple bikes or buy another (n+1)?
. Each state has there own rego department that is equipped to administer this. Yes they do but even if 25% of bikes are registered that is still a huge increse in workload for staff and likely more staff will need to be employed to cover this extra work. The rego fees raised won't cover this funding shortfall, perhaps we can increase motor vehicle rego to cover it...? Not sure if existing computer system will have functionality to process bicycle registrations. Motor vehicles have a weight listed on rego form, how will that work with a bike? Does the weight include accessories like lights, computers, pannier racks etc and what about if components are swapped/upgraded giving a different weight value?
Bike riders legally obliged to stay as far left as practicable. Most already do. AFAIK we already have a law stating that..
No lane filtering for bikes unless turning right.
The stay wider law is a good idea but it must also apply to push bikes. Don't know what this is
Bike riders legally obliged to indicate their intentions on roundabouts. I always do, thought it was a law already
Bike riders not able to filter to the front of intersections. ( we have a problem now where cars have just spent the last 5 ks trying to safely overtake a group of riders only to be caught behind again at an intersection) Whatever. I'm always getting held up by slow cars, they should move out of my way
. We must have the existing bike paths maintained to a high enough standard for their use. So where is the money going to come from to do this? Bike rego won't cover it. It only covers admin costs.
.Riders legally obliged to use bike paths if they are there. Not always practical to use bike paths ie bunch rides.
.All riders to wear high vis clothing at night. I think they mean reflective. Hi vis does jack schitt at night. Many riders already do. I wear reflective leg and arm bands and the logos on my my knicks are reflective
This can all be paid for with fines that are already in place. And increased detection arising from number plate recognition. I think they are over estimating how much money will come in from bicycle offences and AFAIK that money just goes into consolidated revenue. I think cops probably have enough to do without having to worry about checking rego and CTP on bikes. There will need to be more cops employed to deal with this extra unlawfullness, how is that going to paid for?

Nothing to consider, only one course of action to be taken IMO. He needs to be sacked or resign. The police service is also considering what disciplinary action might be taken against the officer if he's convicted.

If it's ok to falsify statements, I'd think a bit of DUI is no problem for a Queensland policeman.find_bruce wrote:While I agree with you Ross, if it is acceptable for a SA Supreme Court Judge to keep her job, I suspect the plod will keep his with a slap on the wristRoss wrote:Off duty Qld sergeant allegedly DUI
