I remember a mate telling me of a similar sight here in Perth. Had of I had the time, I would have gone out and asked why the operator was parked there.

And once berated by the bike courier who was rightly furious, he proceeded to then accelerate sharply and swerve around the courier on the wrong side of the road.
If the courier happens to be reading here, I saw what was going on and the wagon driver deserves to be told off - he wasn't watching what was going on. I have the rego of the wagon if you need it and I'll happily put in a word for you.

+1 McCarrs Creek Road seems particularly bad for this. I've been "punishment passed" many times along there, once so close the hairs on my leg were brushed.biker jk wrote:It appears that all the MMs were out today along McCarrs Ck Rd between West Hd Rd and Church Pt. On the way to Church Pt I had a P-plater close shave me at speed. Immediately followed by another MM pass at reasonable distance but then cut in way too early (I yelled at the driver and received the finger in return. I wonder why they never stop to chat but just drive off?). On the way back from Church Pt a council garbage truck (URM) almost collected me as the MM timed his pass at the exact moment a car coming the other way went by. Why are so many drivers so stupid that they pass you when a car is coming the other way? These people should never have a licence.
A few weeks back I was driving (not riding) up towards Terry Hills with many cyclists out early on a Sunday morning - I passed close on one hundred riders. I could hear a car horn blasting behind me the whole way up McCarrs - this was one driver's solution: just intimidate every cyclist off the road! He must have really lost his marbles.

Aren't the speed camera vans operated by a third party?Ignoto wrote:Poor form by the QPS. Robbie McEwen tweeted this picture to them earlier today:

I think there are just proposals, so they can free up trained officers and reduce overtime, that's what I heard.

Yeah don't ride like that. You are breaking the law by not giving way when returning to the road from the shoulder. If you aren't in the lane you shouldn't expect a driver to slow down for you to enter it.darkelf921 wrote:The same ride. I normally claim the lane before, during and just after roundabouts. I didn't get a chance to with this one.

This is the sort of crap that drivers should get done for dangerous driving.ikm wrote:This mornings effort. Why use the completely empty lane when you can buzz past the group of cyclists as close as possible?
In a work place if some load shifting equipment moved past someone like that a judge would say that the driver failed to pass in a save manor, because the definition of safe to be free from risk to harm, and it is dangerous because the risk is possible serious injury or death.
Yet under the law, even if he had hit and killed the cyclists, it probably wouldn't even count as dangerous driving.

the campervan was towing a jetski. you're dealing with someone who is a specialist in being dangerous and inconsiderate. as much as i dislike close passes, you have to admire a professional in their field of expertise.BianchiCam wrote:All from today!

Oh, it is dangerous driving. Only problem is to convince the jury that the driver's actions were not reasonable. Juries don't like to convict drivers of a criminal offence because they think 'there but for the grace of God go I'.myforwik wrote:This is the sort of crap that drivers should get done for dangerous driving.ikm wrote:This mornings effort. Not sure what the issue with the garbage truck was? Not going wider when going past?

Is the first one actually a bicycle lane or just a shoulder?BianchiCam wrote:All from today!
Last one is similar to a video posted last week from Adelaide - because you're over one side of the white line the driver is encouraged to pass closer because they are thinking if you stay over the line then there's no issue (i.e. exactly like driving past a vehicle in an adjacent lane). It's not an easy one to address as it is not always easy to claim the lane or ride further out if traffic is constant.
