Sweet baby cheesus, glad you survived that one unscathed. Complaint to the police or the bus co?

BCC transport and Translink are useless. IntheWoods will go straight to police

Oh I only went to translink. Are they actually useless? If so I'll have to file a going report on a bus :) and the police will say ... too hard dunno who the driver is?

You'll get a standard response. I had action from the Brisbane City police. The bus driver was charged with changing lanes without indicating rather than padding within a metre... So the driver was identified

You've got the bus number and the exact time of day of the incident, surely it can't be too hard to work out who was driving the bus at that time.

Are you saying there is a problem here, or just other times.

He looks, from the video, to be someone who passed at a respectful distance, and a slow pace. He even manages to Not cross the double white lines. Reasonable approach to sharing the road from what I see.

Yes, I note that it is an inside bend.

I've seen far worse.

Colin. I've seen worse. This is a borderline close pass but because it's the second one from this driver, obviously any conversation previously had have gone in one ear and out the other. Hence I've reported it

No. Next you're going to ask "why aren't you in the bike lane" because it isn't one

Looks like a good piece of road widening for bikes to use to allow cars a safe pass on a blind bend. I would use it.

Mate i understand, but at times there has to be a bit of give and take. 1m safe pass rule is all well and good, but you have position yourself safely on the road as well.

1m rule wont save you from being hit, but choosing correct position on the road will.

"Correct" just in your opinion, but not legally required which is different. There are sometimes valid reasons to avoid the shoulder, and the passing motorist is not to assume the rider's choice is invalid and pass illegally as a result. I suppose women choosing the correct clothes is required to avoid trouble when out at night too... Its the same mentality of according at least partial blame to the victim for a decision totally in the control of someone else.

Yeah but I have good excuses like getting hit by a car :P Lets see how much I can close that down by as I look at getting back to race fitness again.

Jasonc, how come you don't ride on the shoulder/bike lane? I noticed in a video a few pages ago too (with white car cutting in front of you), you were riding on the road, and not the bike lane... were there issues with them ?

Most of the bike lanes in Brisbane are full of glass, too narrow or lead to no where
