Cyclists vs. Young Cyclists

We have discussed so many times about cyclists vs. motorists. Right or wrong, cyclists would suffer more, which I completely agree with that statement. However, today I experienced with 'road cyclists' rode alongside more than one rider in a single marked lane (taking the path of other riders from the other direction), without consideration of other cyclists.

I rode with my 8 yo daughter in single file and had issues with these agressive cyclists kept chatting with their mates without reducing the speed or changing to single file to allow others (& kids) to ride safely. It forced us to slow down and to be as left as possible (though we have the 'right' to ride in the lane).

Right or wrong, kids would suffer more. Please all cyclists, don't just blame or demand motorists to share roads, but please share family friendly bike paths, with others, kids and pedestrians.

Yes, I'd agree. Two-abreast bunchriders on the bike paths are about as socially unacceptable as a snot-rocket in the bunch

Next time hose them down with your water bottle (preferably full of Gatorade).

I agree with the OP. Poor form by these riders. Furthermore in WA it is illegal to ride two abreast know shared paths unless passing.

if it was me, i'd ride two-abreast with my 8yo, and be on the outside. the weekend warriors can get nicked.
i sure as eggs wouldn't put my child at any risk* of getting clobbered by some boofheads, for the sake of 'doing the right thing'.

*not saying you did, or will.

I do sometimes go side-by-side, but as soon as I see anyone in the distance, that stops real quick and it is single file only.

I don't like being passed closely by others two-abreast so I won't do that either.
