That guy was still moving at 25kmh when he dismounted, a step or two and he was on the next bike. Clearly the crew weren't expecting him to hold quite that much speed as well!

This is where cyclocross in the off season comes in really handy.

What impressed me as well was the fact that he stepped off the left hand side of the bike, and mounted the next bike on the left.

While it probably has something to do with being right handed, but I find it extremely awkward to mount the bike from the left.

That makes me ask.........on what side do you normally mount your bike? :?

Mate the proper way is to mount from the left, otherwise your horse might be spooked & you risk jabbing in the rump with your sword.

Isn't inertia a wonderful thing

Always the left... Watch a cyclocross race and it is 99% the left hand side that every body uses. Left or right handed doesn't matter.
Even on motorbikes it is the same... Hence the side stand is always on the left.

Horses and motorbikes are always boarded from the LHS. Makes sense to use the same convention for pushbikes.

Ive just watched that 10ish times in a row, and i am still amazed!! we all know just how awkward and slippery bike shoes can be when walking around in them, not to mention on the road. Great Vid!

Now i have never thought about it before but i naturally mount from the LHS. But the Missus may have something to say about that

Yes, I dismount on the left. Right side dismounts are usually clipped-in stacks :(

My wife dismounts on the right - makes for fun on our tandem.

On a tandem I guess the stoker would have to dismount first anyway unless you are able to throw a leg over the handle bars.
