The more of these I read, the more I relate to. I have left my work shirt at home and then had to give a lecture while wearing a jersey. I have a couple of shirts, a pair of pants and shoes at work now, just in case.InTheWoods wrote:Left my pants at home (commuting to work).

Socks on spd-sl pedals do work, though not overly comfortably! I saw work mates in the cafe next to work as I rode past. I hoped they wouldn't notice but it was the first thing mentioned when I got in...

More funny was a colleague, but I won't mention who, who turned up to track racing only to discover he had forgotten his nicks. Luckily for him, I had a spare pair. Unlucky for him, I had worn them for the commute in the morning. I lent him the nicks and he left his undies on. Told him to keep them

Me too. Fortunately was able to borrow a car and go back home to get them, 20 min round trip. Also left towel at home previously, dried myself with my 'emergency reserve' shirt and paper towel. I only change pants or towel over when I bring in fresh ones. Shirts/underwear are a few days ahead at a time.InTheWoods wrote:Left my pants at home (commuting to work).

Saw a guy in full kit, fancy carbon road bike clip less pedals and thongs on loop the lake... No shoes obviously. Long ride without correct footwear.

You guessed it....he attempted to drive into the underground carpark at the local shopping centre with his bike on the roof.
Not only did he break his bike and rack, he did a few thousand dollars damage to his brand new SUV when his bike slid down the side of the vehicle.
Nobody looks back on their life....and remembers the nights they got plenty of sleep !!

After forgetting little things myself, I actually made a checklist .
And got a secondary checklist for rides that dont leave frome home.
This list includes the bike..

And as I work in an engineering firm with an office full of guys, I've now got a spare in my locker, just to make sure I never forget it again...

Gone to work without towel and shirt.
Went to cricket training without underpants. This is critical because it keeps your box in place. I was batting with my box around my knees feeling very nervous.

I rode that night in pitch black as it was along the motor way with no road lamps. Got a glimpse of the road every so often when cars drove past though i may as well have been riding with my eyes closed. Now I juice up my batteries after every day of riding with no exceptions.
Was a damn scary dangerous stupid experience.

I have an auto front light (Axa - Nano 50 Plus Steady Auto LED) running off a front wheel dynamo. Does anyone know if there is enough power in the dynamo to also power an auto dyno rear light? Or are there any "auto" type battery powered rear lights out there?
TIA

One of the blokes on a club ride for some reason decided to check his front skewer was tight whilst (luckily) riding slowly. Lost control, over the handlebars landing on his head breaking his neck. Luckily he had the sense not to move and an ambulance was called. Incomplete fracture with no displacement or cord damage and he is fine now Served as a handy reminder for us all to be more careful though.
