Hi,

I have a fleece lined jersey and during the genovese king lake event this year it got quiet dirty. The problem im having is getting the dirt staines out of the white spots of the jersey. I have washed it a couple of times, I tried spot cleaning with dish washing liquid, i did try soaking with napisan for a couple of hours last night but still nothing satisfactory.

Does anyone have tips or ideas about how to try and get them out?

I have tried to search but really didn't come up with anything different to what I have tried.

Maybe buy some White Spirit and put some on another clean rag and scrub the stain.

Here is a link to an article quoting Shannon Lush on removing stains from clothes. (covers grease etc...)

or visit her website and you can plug in any stain (if a member, cost approx $12pa).

Personally, never had any problems using Sard stain remover/pre-soak and our front loader.

Good luck.

I think I might try the white spirits tonight (I already have some of that).

Are you using napisan with cold or warm water?

I have a Miele front loader that you can set the washing temp on. Really dirty whites go in for a soak at 60'C for a couple of hours. That usually does the trick, It also does a cycle at 90'c but that will destroy the elastic in most clothes so stay away from that.

I stick to 30 or 40c synthetic wash for my bike gear. Just had a look at a couple of the tags. Both recommending 30c wash temp.

It didnt really do anything except stink out the laundry.

To be honest I have always cold washed my cycling gear, usually with some laundry liquid and if they have an extra sweaty smell to them I add some vinegar. I might try a 30c wash and see how that goes.

I know it sounds a bit weird but whenever I have had stains on clothes that I think could be difficult to remove in the wash, I have pinched my wife’s Ajax Spray N' Wipe out of the kitchen, gave each spot a good hit, and then dropped the gear in the clothes basket for her to wash whenever.

Has not failed me yet.

Agree with 30-40°. Especially with enzymatic cleaners as they work best around body temp. Also hot temps can "set" stains. The vinegar trick is good to o, just not too much. I learnt that on these forums :-D
