Re: Painting bike frames???Painting a frame is a lot easier than you would think, the very easiest way to go about it is get the frame blasted and a primer powdercoat, then rattlecan the colour and clear. Quick, cheap and easy.

Re: Painting bike frames???yeah for a bike i got for free, iam not really keen on spending big on my potential pub runner. i might have a go a doin it my self, being a traveller iam not to worried about butchering the job to much. i think it will end up being my fixie project.
Re: Painting bike frames???so sandpaper and spray cans here we go!!!
Re: Painting bike frames???The quick tips, don't stinge on the sanding as the cleaner and smoother your starting point is the better the end result will be. You get better results from a warm frame and can (some say the can should be hot enough that it's uncomfortable to hold, i think that's getting a bit risky for pressure, warm should be enough, letting the frame and can sit in the sun for a little while is usually enough), give each coat plenty of time and sun to cure and bung a clear coat or 3 over the top to give it some protection. Oh and smooth strokes and not too heavy with each coat.

Re: Painting bike frames???what's the best sand paper grade to use to start the job?? i am in no rush, so i don't mind taking the time to strip the frame.

Re: Painting bike frames???
Unless there is heavy rust.... I had to use 80 on a few occasions. If the frame is in good condition 180 should be fine followed by 240. Depends on the frame i would say. The dutch have one word to describe the aussie MHL, this word is ;
SCHIJNVEILIGHEID !!
