I have kidults, they rarely rise before midday :) In fact I'm more likely to see them at 5am going to bed while I'm heading out.

The weather here is looking good, temperatures are reasonable for the week, and apart from a bit of rain forecast for boxing day, it's looking perfect for riding.

Signed up yesterday. Will I manage to do it? Not sure, but it is a great motivator over Christmas when I usually get lazy!

Well, after about an hour sleep due to being nervous about this ride, I was up and out there at around 5:40am, enough light to see, beautiful clear windless morning. Headed from Ryde to Meadowbank, along the river to Parramatta, Church St towards Old Windsor Rd, then M7 to Abbotbury apparently. I talked to a couple of friends who said avoid the M4, too many trucks etc, so I headed back the same way I came. Two bad points where getting lost after turning off Victoria rd towards the river bike path and getting lost, and Melville St, after 100km, which I knew would be brutal. However, very happy with my ride, more than doubled my previous longest ride, for 105km, so 395 to go. I feel OK, but we'll see about that over the next two days, then back at it Boxing day if all feels good. Here is my strava ride:

I got in 113 this morning.
Realized I have to go away on the 27th. Not sure how I'll go getting 500 by then.
Might have to do some more kms before bed tonight.

112km to start with.

I was hoping to do a 150+ as a starter but when it came time to do the next loop I was starting to feel shagged so went home.

108ks done this morning, was feeling really good but some of the other guys were short on time so my planned 125 was cut short
Good start to the Challenge, though!

I'm in. Did 50 km this morning, and have other commitments tomorrow. That gives me 6 days to do 450 km. 75 km per day. Hmmm.

102 for me this morning. Christmas errands cutting things a bit short, and it was getting quite warm.

I'm writing this as I sit on the ferry from Queenscliff to Sorrento. I'm riding a one way trip from Point Lonsdale to Melbourne to start the challenge. Hoping to get some good photos from the ferry to make up a scenic entry!!
Will probably end up with 100km for the trip if I take a few detours on the way!

Had planned to go real big and set a new longest ride but had the worst ride ever.
The group had 7 flats, one was a MadFibre exploding (again) then someone cut their finger while inflating on the spoke.
There was one crash, and one very near miss which almost took the whole group down.
A new record of incidents involving motorist road rage.
Strava calculated the not moving component of the ride at 2hr 45mins, you have to laugh.
