Another great riding morning in Sydney. Headed through North Ryde, North Sydney, over harbour bridge, eastern suburb bays to Watsons bay, down the beaches to La Perouse, then back through cycleway to Olympic Park, 101kms, 273km done now:

Had an absolutely glorious ride this morning, still in the Scenic Rim area. Harrisville-Roadvale-Boonah-Coochin-Mt Alford-Lake Moogerah-Kalbar-Harrisville. The countryside through there is phenomenal - plenty of rolling hills which slowed me up but I didn't care, it was sooooo damn pretty out there. Just me and the bike today, 102km with not many people about(saw a few cyclists out near Mt Alford, but that was about it apart from a few cars and 4WDs towing boats to Moogerah).

329km done, 171km to go. Going alright!

A tough day in the dirt today. 55kms and 3hrs 47mins. Could have done 100km on the road in that time.

200kms done and my Single Speed challenge is starting to hurt.

Hi Andrew,

That would be good.......I am going to ride a recumbent tomorrow as my bum needs a rest, these upright bikes are not as comfortable as my recumbents.......

I was going to do an easy 70km ride tomorrow, probably Jan Juc to Barwon Heads/Ocean Grove.....depends on the weather as well.....if its windy I'll end up taking the velomobile as the wind does not affect it too much !

I'll PM you my email and mobile number and maybe we can meet up ?

Did 108 this morning. Pt Lonsdale around the coast to Indented Head, Port Arlington, across to Ocean Grove, 13th Beach to the outskirts of Torquay and then back to Pt Lonsdale. The new bike path from ? to the road that goes along 13th Beach is amazing! Around there, a fast bunch came past and i hooked on which made the headwind stretch go quickly.
Riggsbie (and anyone in the area) - happy to ride off road or bitumen. I ride uprights but happy to ride with recumbents....
Andrew

Managed 75 k's today before and after work.... Have done 60% now!

If the challenge had been between Dec 20th to Dec 27th I'd be done, I've ridden 516ks in the last 8 days

Four days to get 195ks!

Good luck everyone!

My commute to and from work today was 112kms and 1400m of climbing, felt very tired on the return leg and it was only the promise of a cold beer that kept me going. Uploading the data I was surprised to find that the out and back were pretty much the same on average time, though I felt much slower and weaker coming home. Now if only my garmin could measure headspace

192 Ks in and I am struggling.
Family time has been great but time consuming, now the visitors have gone home and I have 2 days free before we are travelling again.
Yesterday (boxing day) I had great plans, one lot of family left at 9am and the next were due to arrive at 2pm. I thought I would get in 100Ks easy. 27.5 Ks in I got out of the seat to get up a small hill and snapped a rear spoke. I turned around and made it home slowly, walking up the steepest hills as too much force on the back wheel would cause it to lock on the brake. I managed 40K this morning while the rest of the house slept in and another 15 this afternoon moving between family gatherings.
What can go wrong tomorrow?

Rode from Coolum to Kilcoy and back yesterday, 261kms with 1,822m climbing. My previous longest was 200k, so it was hard work but it went really well. Another 40odd tomorrow morning, maybe some more in the evening and then plenty on the weekend.

Waaaaaaaa!

Just got back from a 60km ride (Harrisville-Rosevale return, some good climbs too) which was quite an effort as I'm knackered today. Paused the ride when I got home, until I got in wifi range, phone in pocket, got inside, took phone out and ride had gone! Would have been 402km down, 98 to go, but now I'm still at 158km to go! Don't suppose there's some secret cache on the phone somewhere (he says, without much hope)?

Its tough conditions here in the west, with not much let up in sight.
Next three days 41, 41, 40
I have managed 3 rides;
Christmas Eve 100km
Boxing Day 75km
Today 120km

205km to go.
I had hoped to not ride on New Years Eve but will have to now.
I originally planned to do a few arvo rides with my morning rides but its to bloody hot!

Anyway I guess that's why they call it a challenge.
I hope it storms over this arvo, I can maybe then sneak in another short ride.

Cheers
Sambo

good on everyone for getting out and smashing it.

i unfortunately was 100k into a 140k ride xmas eve and snapped a spoke on the front wheel. nothing open, nowhere to repair it so i have been out of action since. wont be able to make the 500 at all ( and only took the wheel in to get fixed today ) so safe to say my festive 500 is out.

good luck to everyone else!

Seems like others have had much bigger annoyances than me, so I'll stf u and do some more riding! Was thinking about going out again this afternoon, but the wind here has suddenly got up, think there is a storm on its way over from Gatton direction...

Three rides in and 364km completed.

Today's ride was a real struggle after yesterdays 150km. Planning another 100km tomorrow then depending on how my legs are Sunday is going to be a leg buster to finish off.

My Rapha may be over though as I had a stupid crash and have done something to my calf muscle :(
