Yeah Wal I can appreciate that.
Would love a classic bike for recovery rides, not sure how it would go on some of my tempo/longer rides.
On my new bike the Di2 has done over 6000 without being touched, for me it's not about performance but trouble free cycling as I'm not very mechanical.
Only hiccup was when I went more than a week without charging and experienced a flat battery half way up Glorious and got stuck in the 11T on the rear.

Hey Dimma, I should lend you the Vertex, 9 speed 7700 downtube shifting gruppo, except for the additional weight it runs as well as anything else you could ride.

Don't have to but I let it slip over the Christmas/New Year break, and I'd clocked up 1240 kms between charges which was 10 days earlier.
I've now got the battery added as a component in Strava so it won't happen again.

Beautiful morning 20 degrees and a very slight breeze, one of those rides that I didn't want go home and go to work, would have loved to just kept on rolling :)

I'm trying to enjoy my holidays (damn car put paid to our major plans of going to Sydney), so instead of 2 weeks of not riding any sort of pushbike, I have actually been doing a few little rides (less than 15kms), found a problem with my track bike (have to fix that issue), but got lots done to 2 of my projects (my Benotto 2500 is 60% built, my Razesa should be doing the Retro riverloop on Sat morning), I have to go out today & do a visual inspection of the riverloop to ensure it's safe for everybody on Saturday morning after the recent flood.

So that will be around 60kms today, somewhere between 30 to 60 on Saturday & I guess I better take the Raseza for a shake down tomorrow (just be 10 or so kms), next week I plan not to ride at all (if I can avoid it), so you blokes should all be well & truly past me when I go back to riding on the 18th.

Then you can all ride looking over your shoulders wondering if I'll catch you before the end of the year (I don't have any targets this year, I'm just riding when I feel & forever long I feel like, I'm having a 'gap' year).

Ok you mob, on ya bikes, get out there & take the lead whilst I'm sitting at home drinking beer or off down my mates drinking beer & hunting feral pests (no, not cyclists ya mob of dunces, cats, dogs, goats & pigs  ).

The water level looked like it had breached the banks (AT) QUT again this morning?

I'll still ride it, then I can say that I've seen it first hand, I trust the judgement of others but as one of the ride leaders I guess it is my responsibility to make sure the route is safe.

Thanks though.

My signature is implying I am all talk, no results :( I had two weeks off, no cycling with a bad leg after a crash. I've got excuses for as long as you will listen to them

Ahhh ok... I just didn't realize there was such a difference in power use between Ui2 and Di2... Granted I run an internal, 1200mah battery on my DA di2 (7970), but I'm still showing solid green after approx 5000+kms... I did an internal job on a mates ui2 so I'll have to see how far he got...

My understanding is the battery is the only common part for both Di2 & Ui2.
It's rated at approx 1000 kms per charge, but if you've fitted an after market internal battery then there's no point comparing?
Also we're getting off topic lol

It was hard to avoid the water and dodge the joggers this morning along there  .
Under the freeway near the entry to the cycle centre there is large amounts of fine dust still all over the path...next time it rains it will be back to mud again

Was too busy sucking beers & Sailor Jerry spiced rum to ride today, so I'll get up in the morning before 'holiday mode' kicks in & go ride it.

105km today... Still just ahead of target...
High tide at Boondall Wetlands was hilarious; three inches of water over the track...

Ok, you lot, 6 whole days straight without chucking a leg over a bike, hope you all logged lots of kms, because "I'm Baaaack", rides planned for tomorrow & Monday, then back to the normal work commute, afternoon training ride schedule again.

It was difficult this morning, I had couch potato legs, didn't want to turn pedals or anything more serious than the trip to the fridge for another beverage, hopefully by Tuesday morning I'll have something a bit closer to a bicycle riders legs.

My biggest day vertically so far. 1828m in 104km :-). Inner thigh cramp towards the end though. Probably dehyration.

Attempted a 205km hilly ride yesterday on nil sleep with body still out of sync. from Paris holiday, not to mention 27 days without having got on a bike....

Not surprisingly I failed and only made 125km, aborting the hilliest 60km section by scooting downwards to a waiting train that whisked me homewards. I made a good decision as major cramps (not dehydration) set in after getting off the train and riding 5km home... I'll have another go this Sunday - perhaps a flatter ride this time!
