158km and 3450m / 4700m ( garmin vs strava elevation)

Needless to say, I'm stuffed.

Impressive ride mate 8) .
I have halfed my goal  ... back to 100,000 ... just not getting the climbing in, hills are too far away to make it a regular thing. Plus I am losing about 15 % of my meters climbed on my phone compared to a Garmin  .

I've been chilling on this a little bit, been taking my lunch rides to the crit track instead of mini-TT-climbs in an effort to more effectively manage my training (i.e. stop overtraining). On the crit track I can just do laps and focus on maintaining a HR/effort, whereas if I go to the nearby climbs I find it too easy to get excited and smash pedals.

Plus there are no cars on the crit track.

Can I ask which is the best system to use for hill data?
A normal hill climb resulted in 320ish from Garmin 800, mates android got 434, after clicking correct hill on Strava mine went to 434 too.
Went for a ride yesterday uploaded and it claimed 630 climbed, clicked the update button back to around 400!
I would obviously prefer the highest every time ;) but to play fair which system have people found the best, the data from your recording gizmo or clicking the data sync button for known professional heights.

Generally the Edge unless the weather's crap. Wednesday was funny. Icy Creek to Baw Baw gave me 1898m gained. Didn't want to "cheat" on Strava but thought check elevation gain on Garmin Connect as you can switch it iff again there. 3267m :-)

Geez, getting the climbing in is easy when you are closer to the hills... 11500m this week without trying to hard... Get to sneak off after my rides are done and everyone is tour gazing... Me I am map gazing ;-)

That's a pretty decent effort! I always feel Kinglake isn't too bad a climb while starting and then find that the last section repays with horrendous headwinds...

You should turn up to the Hells500 hosted Donnathon next Sunday :-)

thanks mate,
i am actually not much of a climber at all ( i am 99kgs but 6'3 ) but i just love getting out and pushing those pedals over you know?
but yes that second steep part once the road gets abit rough is abit tough to manage but you just got to keep going man! love it!
A mate and myself were going to turn up at donna this sunday and have a crack. i play BBALL as well on a sunday night so maybe just take it easy and enjoy the scenery so i at least have something left in the tank for bball that night!

also i am at 41,690m elevation gain for the year. is that any good? havent really taken much notice until reading this thread!

You bet it's good! You're only a hundred metres or so behind me and I've done about 1,000kms more!

all my plans have gone to mud. I got hit from all sides (Mrs JasonC, roadworks on nebo/glorious road and a kids party I have to be at on Sunday morning)

trying to get something in before the party on Sunday morning.

A little hill will become my friend or worst enemy next week
