All good... 25 on the list so far, sure there will be more along soon :) .
I am winning the behind the target race at the moment ... will be WAY behind target before I get back on the bike. Maybe 150,000 is a more sensible target :P .

First hit out for the year. Some windy rolling hills that gave me a massive 568m of elevation :b .

Woohoo... got some climbing ( riding! ) in... bloody slow climbing though as the legs had very little strength after yesterdays CX race. Bit chilly up high... had gloves, neck ring and beanie off till about 600 meters... but then it got cold in the clouds until the last 50m in altitude when the sun poked out for a photo :) .
Better enjoy it while I can as there is a lot of snow on the way  .
Some good figures already by some here  .

Nice work TLL. In contrast when I did my climbing after work yesterday it was 41 degrees, pretty hard work!

Clocked 2282m and 99km on Sunday, was pretty happy with that little effort. Really windy so it was much harder than it should have been!

Followed up with 600m and 900m 40km rides yesterday and today. Slow start last week but starting to pick up the pace :D

Pales in comparison to TLL's pic, but did my first dedicated climbing session as part of this challenge up Mt Gravatt. Should remember to take a photo from the top one day. Unfortunately no snow. Not time for repeats, but slowly catching up to my target.

I know it was last year, but I took this at the top of Arthur's Seat (Victoria)

EDIT: Not my bike - I borrowed it while in Mexico

Nice Ian, I've only managed one climbing ride so far this yr (O'Reilly's) and I was more than 10 mins off the pace.

Where do you ride to get 900m in 40km?

Adelaide hills. That particular ride is cross road - > old freeway - > mount lofty - > descend old freeway - > climb mount osmond - > descend mount osmond - > head to work in the CBD. That is 42km.

The 600m ride was just up to Mount Lofty and back down the way I came and then into the city, 39km.

Would you believe that I had 1700m racked up before 50km on my ride last Sunday. Ended up with 2200m after 99km. It was actually a very tough ride (tougher than it should have been) due to crazy Gully winds, see what I can do this weekend.

I'm happy to PM you my strava details if you don't believe :D

Just did a lazy 300m / 30km at lunch.

If you have a decent hill nearby it's not too hard. My local climb is around 1000m in a 43km round trip. Otherwise a MTB ride or a couple of hill repeats are both good ways to get more climbing in less distance.

900m in 40k is no repeats. But the 1700 in under 50 had three repeats of a 170m climb 1.8km (Corkscrew Road). Good grind.

I tend to avoid repeats like the plague and just plan my rides to hit as many hills in as tight a space as possible. More fun that way. I am lucky, I live at the base of the hills here in Adelaide and have a dozen 'major' routes I can take within 10km, along with heaps of different backroads in between.

I to hate repeats. I'd rather ride continuously up a long climb than up and down the same boring as slope. I'm a hack. I ride my bike because I like riding it. Certainly not to win any races.

I hate hills :D ...not easy moving close to a 100 kilos up steep hills...but I am the same...I ride because I like it and if there are hills I just do my best. I do try and beat my previous best times up hills, but not every ride

I like repeats - probably because I've only done them once or twice ;-)

They make it easier to skill up quickly and test different strategies of when to stand or spin. My descending was very shaky until a couple of 1:20 repeats. Now it's just poor.

Hi all!

Is it too late to join this? I'm going for 10,000m which is paltry compared to some of the numbers here but I have to start somewhere right?

Sorry, noob question, but is it reasonable to put down 1% of your distance goal as your climbing goal?

ie. 6,000km distance ~ 60km climbing ?

I'd reckon so. I did 10,000kms last year and only climbed 42,000m :)
