At this moment i am tryign to get back to the target thingy. I don't seem to be able to find it thruthe dashboard and I did note in the early workings that the target thingy had a separate URL.
Any tips. What is the URL for target thingy.
Even better would be to have my BikeJournal log work correctly instead. Which other assure me should work fine. Any more ideas there anyone?
Strava may be fine for hardware freaks that like to know their GPS coordinates and how high they climb but offers nothing to me other than a hard-to-navigate suite of modules. Regardless of it's functionality (which I gather is very high) the whole thing seems to have been patched together by the proverbial committee that designed the camel. (At least on a desktop PC, perhaps the apps are better though out.) It should not be that hard to find where to change a target distance for example. Profile would be an obvious place but I can't see it there.

Sign up to that site. Then you'll see a place to enter your strava "id" which is a number. You set your target kms in statmonkey too.

After a poor week doing my best to fight off a stomach bug I decided my RDO today was time to try and get the riding back on track a little. Started really tough, feeling worse and worse for the first 20 odd km but as the temperature reached ridiculous levels I seamed to come good for a little while before the heat started taking it's toll. I dubbed my ride the 50/50/50+ ride as I managed just over 50km, finishing into winds of up to 59km/h and the Garmin with this reading..
.
It got too hot for the action cam as it's overheating protection shut it down and when the temps started reaching 50+ the Garmin screen started to get a flicker as well. Passed a few overheated cars stuck on the side of the road too. Unlike Barrengarry late last year this time they where struggling on the flats.

Upon further investigation it appears it actually ran out of battery. A bit surprised at that though as I really expected the battery to last longer on time lapse. Only got 2 hours 49 minutes.sblack wrote:It got too hot for the action cam as it's overheating protection shut it down
Mugglechops, sounds like it's good we didn't do it then. A man hunt isn't the kind of thing you want to find yourself stumbling across in the bush. The shelter of the bush may have made things a bit easier than the road ride though. Coming out of the tree lined Minamurra cycle way onto the concrete and bitumen surrounding of the freeway was like walking into a blast furnace.

Thanks. Your advice - clear and very specific to my need.sblack wrote:Colin, go to the cycling target thingy settings page and choose bikejournal as your source and your bikejournal username as the source account. You should be able to get the 'strava' bar working off your bikejournal entries and not have to use strava at all (which I agree if you aren't using a GPS device is not as appealing.
I have now done the deed. Looking forward to being in the mix with the rest. (Especially as I extremely pleased with my best ever start for the year. )

I have struggled a bit with Strava, as reflected in the inaccurate figures below. So, thanks for that advice sblack, I am changing to Bikejournal as my source and I think I'll only be updating that rather than Strava. No GPS device here so Strava is not advantageous for me. I like Bikejournal as I just take the speed and average from my speedo and type them in. Allows me to see my monthly distances and averages too.
Colin, looks like the old Bikejournal sig is not being updated, I think we will both have to leave that one behind and convert to the new sig. Such is life, you'll need to use the code on the statmonkey is a geek page.

I don't think you will have much trouble next weekend.
Good luck with it.
I did 42kms this morning on the MTB and my mate broke a chain so we pushed and towed him about 8kms back to my house where we fixed it.

Our baby is due March 2nd. This is our third, a 7 year gap between this one and our youngest! going to be interesting..... If our other two are anything to go by, it will be well worth it. I don't know if I will head out if the baby wakes me at 4am, I am not so good in the morning. I much prefer an afternoon ride. It's all about motivation though, so hopefully I will get some!
Hopefully I will be able to keep on the bike, starting to feel as though I am getting somewhere again after a long break off the bike. Loving Strava for motivation! just work on a few segments a day. Getting a PB is good, getting on or near the podium even better!!
