I'll have a hack at the 6,000km. The only fun part is being out the door Mon>Fri at 5:25am and back home at ~6:10pm (well that is if Vline is nice to me!!!). I think 4,000km is a better target for me, but hey might as well try for the 6k!

I think we need to incentivise this a little bit more. I am thinking of donating $100 to a charity of someone else's choice if I fail, and not just any charity, because maybe if I get close I will say to myself "Meh, I didn't make it and $100 goes to charity, so I'm still good". I mean a really crappy charity, like the Westbro Baptist Church or something similar. There has to be a consequence for failing. I'll even set up with a 6K partner who will also put up $100 and if either of us fails, the other gets the money. Of course, if I make the 6K, I get to spend the money on me!

I have just been looking at Strava as most of the 6K club is recommending, do you have to join "premium" to obtain the reporting widget?
I notice some have both the Strava & Bike Jounal.

No you don't need premium.

You will need to join statmonkeyisageek or what ever it is, and then put the code in your signature.

Both are free and if you have a harming et al it's much less hassle than bike journal but a whole lot more addictive

Thanks Bosvit,
I have joined the "statmonkey" but it appears the 2013 is yet to be updated, I guess at the 1st.

You can go to statmonkey and do a manual update and your km's will show up straight away in your signature. That way you will know if it's working

For some reason my bar hasn't updated for more than a week now, and I can't remember my log-in details.

It's in the settings tab - fetch ride data.

@marinmomma I had the same problem when they introduced the climbing target, just go in and update your ride data and it should fix. There's a lost password circuit to help you out as well.

I'm so up for this! I need to save up a few more dollars for a new saddle and helmet too.

Now I've finally sorted my alarm clock I can get up at 5am and do a couple of hours riding before I become 'cook in a bag cyclist'.

Hi, count me in too! Managed 5K for 2012 much to my surprise. Took to riding more seriously to help my 14yr old autistic son lose weight and keep healthy on probably the best legal form of exercise available :-) Huge spin off for me was losing 12kg of my porkiness as well. Based in Gosnells, WA, just 4kms from Champion Lakes Regatta Centre which has a rather handy 5km bike/ pedestrian path around it - so plenty of safe km's spent there. Am pretty much a silent member but have gained lots of useful info and inspiration (and humour) from you guys. Thanks for all your input and keep up the tremendous work :-)
