I think we all feel that way..despite making skull the butt of our jokes....really do hope that it ends up the best case scenario, as the other option could lead to all sorts of troubles/complications

Good luck skull! Hope it is good news. Or, at least, as good as it can be...

Yes, I know a person that had his seatpost clamp bolt snap too (single bolt). He showed me the cut/abrasion on his inner thigh from the seatpost.

Do you think a two bolt post would release the saddle more slowly when broken, or do you think it would be less likely to break?

Sounds horrific. As for the jokes hopefully skull can rise above our juvenile level and turn the other cheek.

In all seriousness though hopefully you get the best outcomes from the docs.

Skull, hope you heal quickly.

On the issue of snapped or failed seat bolts. I don't know any statistics for failed seat bolts, but I would think back to an earlier discussion about snapped seat bolts,

What a horrific injury!

Usually I try (like others have) to lighten the mood by making some bad puns, but honestly, I am grimacing thinking about it.

I hope you avoid a colostomy bag, and get back everything back together as soon, and as discomfort-free as possible.

I just hope you weren't on your Mtn bike with super aggressive muddies on it....

Gonna add my best wishes here too. I'm having trouble imagining a worse injury. On the positive side, now you have an excuse to buy a recumbent ;)
I can't imagine a regular arse-hatchet would be very helpful for the healing process...

Trying to do a Jan Rehula* huh?
Ouch, nasty. Heal fast.

As for boring, I spent 4 months and 3 days in hospital after my mishap. It can get a little tedious after a while.

* for those that don't know, Jan Rehula was a pro triathlete, Bronze medal at Sydney Olympics, and had a distressing injury from a very similar incident in 2001, but his was far worse. Much worse than made out in this article (I won't elaborate as it's pretty gruesome):

Skull-heal quickly!

BTW if you weren't happy with rim brakes, I reckon disc were probably the next progression, or even Swiss stop yellow pads, I reckon your idea could be a bit extreme and not sure it will catch on. :)

Best wishes.
