Punctured the tyre AND the rim!

Far out! That's an expensive puncture! I don't imagine you could repair that sort of thing...

Nah, just a scratch, that will buff out.

(Where I do my Crits, we walk the track before the race to remove sharp objects).

Well 5 for me now.

Ran over a bit of green bottle and kill a tire

First flat of the year - small shard of glass picked up on cycleway near Kyeemagh.
So it's 1 for me.

Flat was on the rear. A Maxxis Detonator that's had two flats in 3000 km - ie. about 1500 km per flat. That's half the mileage that Conti GP 4000s give me between punctures, but I'm too tight to toss away the Maxxis tyres that came on the Cell Triumph yet. Treadwise
they look to have plenty of wear left.

Dead to say the least. Luckily only 800m from the start. Thanks also to Hamster & co for stopping and checking on us!

Been back on the bike 2 weeks and I have had 4 flat tyres in about 7 or 8 rides. Just wanted to complain about it somewhere. Cant find anything wrong, the rim tape looks OK dont really know what it is.

+1, 4. A new Evo3 on the front on Sunday night, five minutes after leaving home this morning the sealant in the front tube came out as a spray of vapor. It sort of sealed, so I pushed on till It finally lost the air about 3km later. Only a tiny cut, but it didn't seal. But I think this wasn't the road racer sealant but the thinner stuff for MTB. It still sucks.

rear tyre. went down straight away. wet roads with some drizzle. went past again about half hour later and saw some nice bits of metal around so I'd say it was 1 of them.
tyre: gatorskin 23c
kms on tyre: ~1500.
total punctures on tyre: 2.


EDIT: 2 cyclists went past and they didn't say a word. I ALWAYS offer assistance.

+1,5. A ~4cm nail through the rear tyre, smacked the life out of the front derailleur clamp but luckily avoided the paintwork. What a way to ruin a perfectly good ride.

On the positive side... It puts me on track to lead the competition yet again if I can keep up this rate all year.

Number 2 for the year, one week old rear tyre meets green glass. What is it with green glass?

3 punctures in a space of 5 minutes! Cut right through the tyre too. Bad.

Glass bottles should be banned! Went and had a look, looked like left overs of a bottle of Vodka. Tried the trick with the $5 note, that didn't work at all.

I was have a really enjoyable ride too. Making good power, reasonable speed for the first time in ages.

What wheels have you got? Checked the edges of the rim for any sharp edges? That was the issue when I had that problem with the wheels I have.

Out for a little 25km Wynnum loop nite ride on saturday 9 March with a mate to give his new roadbike a test, but make a wrong turn and hoon over a set of railway tracks way too fast and not only get a pinch flat (23mm tyres (AT) 100psi ) but also pop the rear light out of its holder and lose a battery, and the water bottle flies out of the holder as well. Pull tube off wheel and there are twin 20mm long punctures at the bottom of the valve. Binned when i got home. Also must have been bitten 26,575 times by mosquitos as the area where i had to change tube was swampy and the recent rain has led to a mozzie explosion.

Then commuting to work today, i've got a flat from who knows what, no more than 1 km from starting off. Tiny split at bottom of valve, cannot find any thing in tyre to explain it, might be because tyre not seated properly after saturday's misshap. Unlucky. +2

You're right - can't swap a bit of rubber for coffee, but then again after seeing whatever article in whatever tabloid about exorbitant coffee prices at some restaurants/bistros/whatevers, it seems you can't often swap $5 for one, either

had this happen to me. I reckon cause was my pump. The clamp on pumps pull on the tubes (hence I have a lezyne screw on pump). This over time can cause increased rubbing/splitting. could have just been a dodgy tube too....

I was minding my own business. How DARE you stick some small random piece of trash on the road for me to pinch flat on.

On top of that - less than 1Km from my house, making the only viable option to CARRY MY BIKE seeing as the tyre was trashed and needed replacing, and the new tyre was at home.

+1, 8. Something cut through the rear tyre (new tyre yesterday!), only just nicked the tube so it only went down slowly so I didn't bother to stop until we got to breakfast - although, it did bottom out a few times in the last few hundred metres. Then when inflating from CO2, the flipping valve unscrewed itself (second time with the Vittoria tubes), dumped all the CO2 and scared the heck out of the people near us at the cafe.
