Was going into Parliament House yesterday and spotted a Police cyclist (there are quite a few around there). He was happy to talk about his bike, a Hillbrick Eagle ( http://www.policebike.com.au/ ). I was assuming that like police cars, their bikes would be one of the major brands rather than handbuilt models from a local company ( http://www.hillbrick.com.au/ ).
This got me looking at what Police ride OS and found that Smith and Wesson make a police bike in the US: http://tiny.cc/x8ayqw

It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?

 ...whatever the road rules, self-preservation is the absolute priority for a cyclist when mixing it with motorised traffic.

I've seen a few of those, but never knew who made them.
I wonder, do any Police use road-bikes around the world? My guess is not due to the limitations of them. Trek Madone 4.5, Giant TCR Advanced SL3 ISP Di2 (the green machine)

Not that I've seen many/any recently due to less hanging around in the Perth CBD these days, but I think I recall the ones I saw being Giant hard tail MTBs... just with blue & white chequered livery and various racks and such. This was a few years back. Maybe they need to get with the whole CX fad in terms of urban versatility? Kym
