Shimano 105 (5700) Replacement Chainring?

Hi All,

Recently I noticed that my chain kept falling off at the front outer chainring. After close investigation of the front outer chainring, I realised that one of the teeth is worn out quiet badly and the actual chainring is a bit bent.

I just want to know where I can buy a replacement chainring. I am running Shimano 105 (5700) Double Compact Crankset and not sure where I can get an outer chainring replacement. Ive looked on Wiggle and Ribble but only found older models and not sure if that's compatible with my crankset. Can someone please help and point me in the right direction.

If you want just the chainrings then Bike24 has them. They're not cheap. The large chainring will cost around $110 delivered.

It's better value to replace the whole cransket which you can do for just $155 from ChainReaction.

I, like you, being fiscally conscious after my inner chain ring snapped (ultegra 6700) due to the inadequate torque of bolts, sought salvation from the online cycling realm. Finding the required chain ring was to put simply - a drag. To my surprise after inquiring at my local bike shop, the price was not too dear ($30 to $40).

That said, your LBS might surprise you. It is worth a try at least. Good luck!

That's the small chainring which cost around $20 online. The OP needs to replace the large chainring which will clost closer to $80 online (and probably over $120 from the LBS).

Really? That much? So I guess it's better to buy whole new crankset...

I recently replaced a 32t middle chainring for the triple chainset on the mtb with a higher spec 36t chainring from CRC and it fits fine as the BCD (bolt circle diameter) was the same, although i needed to adjust the front derailleur due to the outer diameter of the 36t chainring being larger than the 32t as it had more teeth. I think the 105 5700 series has a 130mm BCD, (look up the shimano techdocs) but you may be able to pick up either a 105 or ultegra compact chainring on the cheap if you are lucky. Have a look at

Have you got a crank puller for pulling the cranks off? Otherwise you'll be off to the LBS anyway to get them to fit it for you.
