That's a whole lot of perspective, Uncle Arthur. Wal42 is right that Australian docs & healthcare are some of the best, so you're in good hands. Get well soon.

Best of luck with the surgery and here's hoping you are back on the bike ASAP!

Speaking of issues brain related, there was an interesting program I saw recently on how people who bicycle and then get Parkinsons are still able to cycle even if their Parkinsons has progressed to the point where they can't walk. If they've never cycled then they are unable to do so.

Wow, I wish you all the best for your surgery and healing!

About 30 years ago, my dad had a brain hemorrhage.
I remember we were out at a Chinese restaurant when he got a headache.
He drove mum and me home, then drove himself 10 minutes to hospital, still stopping for red lights and everything. Tough old bugger..

To cut a long story short, he recovered completely, and has only a scar to show for it. He is alive and very well.
30 years ago, the neuro surgeons worked wonders, so I have no doubt that they are 10000000000000000000000 times more advanced now.

I hope it all goes well for you.

Dear Unca arfa,

Although you may not read this before your surgery you may have a million thoughts running through those brain cells wondering how things will turn out. as it is there is nothing you can do except trust and believe that all will end well.

Both my father and younger brother have had cranial cysts removed. In my brothers case it was the equivalent of a small golf ball. That took him some 6 months to recover.
The rest of us have also worried over the years that the hereditary bug from genetical makeup will affect us too. Fortunately not, but will bring me to repeat what I heard once.
Worry is a stress about something that has not happened, Anger is a stress about something that has happened. Either of which we cannot change.

Get well mate!

William.

I could make some tasteless remark about coming out of it with the intellect to become a politician  It can be scary shizzen so I'll wish you luck instead.

One of my children, by a freak of coincidence, was found early on to have a fairly large tumour (benign). Despite universal advice that, best case, she would have a taxing recovery and rehab spell, the stars aligned for her and all she ever had to show for it post-op was an impressive scar hidden under her hair. I'll push some of her karma your way. :D

I see he passed away in Jan 2013. Obviously the operation wasn't successful, very sad.
