What I found was better than expected was the brief background of certain specifics and the questioning of these. In the first part we did get questions on UCI Bribes, Emma O'Reilly and Cortisone, Betsy Andreu, Masterminding doping, firing teammates for not doping, Tour de Suiss, Michelle Ferrari, Motoman. Oprah has done her bit in asking the right questions and sure she has a general audience and not a cycling audience. If Lance had of engaged her on these questions then we could have had more answers - however this didn't happen. The second part was more "emotional" and not what "fact-finders" were after, but thats ok - this is really her style and the main thing, she didn't neglect many of the important questions.

She didn't probe the questions because shes not a journalist. She doesn't have the skill or knowledge to do that.

Indeed - she is simply a marketing/PR channel. At times a dangerous one with the amount of pseudoscience medical nonsense touted via her show/channel.jimsheedy wrote:For the lightweight celebrity PR booster that is Oprah , it was a good interview.

i'd ride with him. let all the sanctimonious haters go on with 30 pages of posting. he doped, ( like they all did), he was better then the rest at it, and didnt care who he hurt along the way. he's over it. let him race again if he wants after a consistent penalty. after all, we have the like of contador and f. schleck riding, vinakourov on the olympic podium.
i want to use tall 'poppy' syndrome but better not.... ( do they test for opium?)
reminds me of an unreleased seinfeld episode where lance was a guest star
Peterman: I'm afraid I have some bad news, Lance,. It appears you will not be accompanying me to France
Lance: What? Why not?
Peterman: I'm afraid it's your urine, Lance. You tested positive for opium.
Lance: Opium?
Peterman: That's right Lance. White lotus. Yam-yam. Shanghai Sally.
Thats: That's impossible, I've never done a drug in my life. Dr. Ferrari must have made a mistake.
Peterman: Not a chance. I'm afraid I'll just have to find someone else to accompany me on my journey. The continent is no place for an addict.
Lance: let me see... (fumbling in pockets) I have this old prescription for opium....maybe a small donation....?

In relative terms to US celebs, this is a storm in a tea cup. So no surprise.MarkG wrote:Americans love forgiving their celebs, so it was just another Charlie Sheen moment really..
Americans love their heroes, especially one that turned the Europeans upside down.

My point being if the thread doesn't interest you anymore, stop following it or try to add something that will make it more interesting. Complaining that it is monotonous is well self fulfilling really.

Seriously, that means little.biker jk wrote:Here's how good Armstrong was without the drugs. Just thought I had to post this for those that keep claiming it was a level playing field and Armstrong just beat other dopers (when in fact he was the greatest doper in the history of sport and EPO turned donkeys in racehorses).

I note that all the big names of the time and prior have been tainted by dope or strong speculation of it, Eddy Merckx and Miguel Indurain included.
The irony I think in LA and Contador's cases was, the whole of Spain stood behind Contador while LA got nailed by his fellow countrymen. The Spaniards are just different.
