OK.

So whats a really good book about cycling?

In light of the recent Lance news I'm still not adverse to his writings. There's the bust up's, the biographies and the life lessons.

I'm after an entertaining read about cycling be it right or wrong. Cadel, Lance, Hincape etc etc - not really fussed. Even an epic tour. A nice read (read in hindsight maybe) before sleep would be a treat.

The Anna Meares Story - When Courage Triumphs over Disaster ISBN 97817411090805.

Published in 2009 before her London win, but nevertheless, the book
is good and the girl is the real deal.

Try "Miles from Nowhere" by Babara Savage, about riding around the world.

"where the pavement ends" is about riding through Mongolia and onto viet nam.

Both have nice styles of writing. Both are available on kindle

I actually have this book but haven't read it. The old man (who is a fitter old man than me) gave it to me.

Tyler Hamilton's new book is a very good read, although not particularly "inspirational".

Its not so inspirational in the sense of "YEAH! I'M GUNNA GO CLIMB A MOUNTAIN!"

But the Rupert Guiness book about Cadel's TDF win made me smile a hell of a lot, bringing back some very fond, if hazy (due to late nights) memories of that TDF.

Cadel's book on the road to the TDF win was pretty inspiring - but I've been more inspired by a few training books. Learning all those things about proper training that I didn't know before - and having a lot of "ah!" moments. If I'd read them sooner, I'd be a lot faster and probably would have suffered less injury problems.

I have just read this book about this amazing cyclist called Lance Armstrong, who I have never heard of before. Apparently he not only managed to beat testicular cancer, he went on to win the TdF 7 times!!! I also heard his father walked on the moon.

What an amazing, almost unbelievable story!

Anyone else heard of Lance?

I kind’a thought that “inspirational” books were supposed to be like true stories so that it’s really really inspirational.........but I heard the books by that Lance guy turned out to be all made up stuff.........not for real like.

Robbie McEwens book is a fantastic read, highly recommend it.

Yup - Saw a book by him on the weekend. It was in the fiction section though.

"The Rider" - Tim Krabbe... I bought this recently based on a recommendation from a mate. Going to read it this weekend as I'll be climbing back onto the saddle after a 6 week break..
