go tell ENVE their wheel R&D is crap, and that unstable aerodynamics and steering torque can be casually dismissed, as in your use of physics earlier.Alex Simmons/RST wrote:Why, is this a job interview? So as well as a couple of "physicist mates", you are now in the inner circle of a major cf wheel maker?winstonw wrote:go tell ENVE their wheel R&D is crap, and that unstable aerodynamics and steering torque can be casually dismissed, as in your use of physics earlier.Alex Simmons/RST wrote:Why, is this a job interview? As far as I can see Alex is supported by ENVE. They push there wheels, especially the deeper ones, as being suitable for climbing.

BWAHAHAHA If your event lasts less than 6 seconds, get the lighter wheel.Alex Simmons/RST wrote:http://alex-cycle.blogspot.com.au/2013/ ... parts.html
I think the real question is how much does 500 grams affect you on a 5 and 10 percent gradient, because gravity is the key. What is the 0/30 acceleration for 1000W on these gradients? What is the difference in speed and distance?

So at the risk of posting something on-topic in this thread, does this mean throwing on a set of deep dish wheels is roughly the equivalent of dropping 4 kilos, or am I interpreting this incorrectly?Alex Simmons/RST wrote:http://www.biketechreview.com/index.php ... erformance

I have seen the tables a couple of times and they need to be shot over them, so hard to read (and I'm a visual learner!)The_Eggman wrote:So at the risk of posting something on-topic in this thread, does this mean throwing on a set of deep dish wheels is roughly the equivalent of dropping 4 kilos, or am I interpreting this incorrectly?Alex Simmons/RST wrote:http://www.biketechreview.com/index.php ... erformance
The take home is that aero wheels can bring really silly improvements in your performance, if speed is important to you.

The noise means fast.
So to are cassette bodies that make a real loud noise when free wheeling. Just do that in the bunch and everyone knows you are a force to be reckoned with.

OK what does the 2.4% cumulative efficiency one gets from the (wo wo wo wo ) wheels translate to in terms of speed on the road based on pumping out the same wattage? Say based on a 30 km/h on standard wheels, would that mean I jump to 30.72 km/h or is it not that simple?Xplora wrote:I have seen the tables a couple of times and they need to be shot over them, so hard to read (and I'm a visual learner!)The_Eggman wrote:So at the risk of posting something on-topic in this thread, does this mean throwing on a set of deep dish wheels is roughly the equivalent of dropping 4 kilos, or am I interpreting this incorrectly?Alex Simmons/RST wrote:http://www.biketechreview.com/index.php ... erformance

erg...my heavy and non aero 32 spoke box section rim wheels make that noise. So...confused!thearthurdog wrote:Aero, or light, it doesn't really matter. In the end the critical thing is that your wheels make that 'wo wo wo wo' noise. If they do that, you will fly.
