The same reason they keep upgrading "standards" and talking up how much "stiffer" their new model is.
If stiffness was truly such a big concern, why dont they make bikes out of H beam?

Yesterday I raced and finished on a hilly Crit course on my Fulcrum 1's.
Today i failed to finish on a flat Crit course on my Mad Fibers.
MF's are probably 300g or so lighter than the Fulcrum's.
But I dont think either was the result of me finishing or not really.
I was just more rubbish today. :mrgreen:

Did you have your koiled lead out man today Sumgy?
You're going to have to come up with a plan B in your post race coffee at Slightly Twisted. people are waking up to your regular sacrificial lead out :wink:

1 yoga class per week, 1 to 4 hours of core strength and stretching per week... depending how motivated I am, trying to double my meters climbed per year in order to work my core more, run steps when I can to work my core as much as legs, massage therapist when I can to help with my hamstring issues, team mate ( ex Cofidis soigneur ) kiné who I see about once every 4 to 6 weeks but talk to most rides. When racing I can spend two to 3 hours solidly in the drops without back issues ... aero wheels are just the icing on the cake. Still never claimed to be more than just a punter who enjoys racing. No reason you can't take it seriously at what ever level you are at, been no other sport in my life since my early 20's. It was a big part of the reason we packed up the family and moved to France... the cycling is infinitely better :D .
This is my punter racing in France... how does it compare to your C grade crits?.

Did you have your koiled lead out man today Sumgy?

I think you are thinking of the wrong Koiled rider.
You wont ever find me finishing that close to the front.
And there is a difference between waking up to it and being able to do something to stop it. :mrgreen:

Thanks to everyone who took part in this thread.

I think I have my answer, as well as a couple more.

Plus, I worked out a couple of things.

I can dramatically reduce the weight of my wheelset by converting my bike to a fixie. I only use one gear at a time anyway, so essentially the rest are cargo. :mrgreen:

Secondly, while I am over my preferred weight, squabbling over grams is a moot point.
