Just wondering do you (have to legally) or not carry ID while riding.
Just wondering as a fellow worker who cycles just round his bloke at home was knocked of his bike and the topic got raised between us ,as neither of us carry our wallets.I do have $10 in my saddle bag in case i need a drink, phone call etc

If you do carry ID what do you have ????

I don't think its a ""legal"" necessity, but I always carry my wallet.... plenty of room in the Rotovelo.

I have a 'homemade' laminated "emergency details" card....just in case.

I wear a roadID http://www.roadid.com with my wifes details and my best mates details.

Wear it every time I run or ride.

I carry my wallet and a mobile phone which is unlocked and has "home" in the list of numbers. Hopefully if I'm unconscious someone will figure it out.

Usually I carry my full wallet, but when I go "bareback" on a shorter faster pace ride I'll take D/L a credit card and a $20 along with food, tube, minitool, etc

RoadID. I actually bought it before I had my heart attack but now I'm on Warfarin so I wear it everywhere.

It's a good idea to print and wrap your essential emergency details around your seat-post - fluro paper.

Like name, blood group, emergency contact number, relevant alergies and conditions and medico contact, emergency services phone number.

As for the original query, I have never heard of a requirement to carry ID any more than you would be required to as a pedestrian. I'm WA.

Never gotten the Blood group one, as there is no way you would get anything but trauma packs (O+ i think) till they get a group type from pathology.

I wear a dog tag with my name and driver's license engraved on it. I figure that with that hospital emergency/police could figure out who I am.

I have my husband’s phone number tattooed on my breast, I used to have my old boyfriends number on the other breast but I turn that one into a dragon tattoo

Always carry my mobile phone, in a flip-case that has become my wallet, with my drivers licence and other ID.

TLL, does that mean your passport. I technically needed to carry mine at all times without the standard ID overseas but never did.

On the bike I go overboard, money, phone and a heap of cards including drivers, medicare, health insurance card, blood bank and a business card.

I have a French ID card ( carte sejour )... when in France you are supposed to have ID at all times. For foreigners a passport should be carried at all times ( yup even climbing Alpe D'huez :P ) ... got to keep an eye on those illegal immigrants after all.
But in reality you will be fine unless you are breaking laws on a bike... still it only takes one police man or gendarme to ask you, if you haven't got it you may well be locked up until you can prove your id.
If you aren't white then the chances are much higher of being asked for id  .

There should always be a fiver tucked away in your saddlebag. If it doesn't come in handy for a phone call, drink or bag of jellybeans at some time, it will eventually come in handy as a get you home fix for a slashed tyre sidewall.

My wallet and mobile are never far away.

I always carry my wallet either in a jersey pocket or saddle bag plus my phone, keys & asthma spray.

I couldn't imagine leaving the house without it.
