Is there anything so wrong in la bella figura? A little pride in your appearance? A desire to fit in?il padrone wrote:Pride in appearance is all fine. 'Nose-in-the-air' nitpicking is entirely a different thing.
Sock height?
I realise it is TIC, yes, but there is more than a grain of truth in the attitudes behind it.
Maybe it is just fashion, but as shallow as it is, fashion drives a large part of our economy. People are tribal, after all.
Sure, there are people who don't follow fashion, or even an approximation of it. I'd guess that of those who do not follow fashion, it is a minority who simply don't care. The rest are making a statement, oddly enough similar in intent and result as those who do follow the latest trends.

But we're hardly talking about good looks - la bella figura Good looks never had anything to do with whether your socks are 4cms long or 15cms, whether your Rudy Projects' temple-pieces are inside or outside your helmet strapsLondon Boy wrote:Is there anything so wrong in la bella figura? As I said earlier rampant nit-picking about irrelevancies. Good luck to you if this really matters to you.

Our club socks come in two heights, the longer ones (which everyone wears) have the club colours and LACC on it. Perfect identification for when you're lying in a ditch with your legs sticking out, when you're in the morgue and your loved one can pick you out, and, and ....more material to make make-shift bandages out of? I'm stretching here, I know.find_bruce wrote:Nice try BFV, what is the safety benefit to the correct length white socks ?
Ooh, the tan lines will distinguish you from runners who wear ankle socks?

Most I know wear longer socks and I actually wear knee high socks from time to time.

Never mind team jerseys and socks, what about that saddle bag!?il padrone wrote:
Oh yes there is also my one trade team retro jersey
Clearly, it's the only saddle bag one would deem appropriate to fit to one's bike.
I feel thoroughly ashamed and pathetic for not having one.

Is there a place in the pantheon of saddle bags for something more befitting my station in life? ;bigfriendlyvegan wrote:

Obviously the hat matches everything, but excellent work on matching the handlebar tape and saddle bag straps.il padrone wrote:

I would imagine you wear the same colour socks when riding that configuration?
