Sunglasses placement

Postby boss » Fri May 03, 2013 12:29 pm

Quick question.

I've been running cheap fake Oakleys (Radar paths) for some time, and recently pulled the trigger on a legit set of photochromic ones.

Up until now I've mounted my sunglasses on my helmet when I'm not using them. I didn't care that much as the sunglasses were worth $30.

But now that I've invested a considerable amount into my shades, I'm a little worried that mounting them on my helmet will 'stretch' the frames and hinges.

What's everyone's experience and preference?

The rear pockets of your cycling jersey are your friend if you a) don't wear a backpack, and b) wear a cycling jersey! Otherwise get an old school sunglasses strap and hang them around your neck when not in use.

If I leave home and it's dark but will need my sunnies later on then I just out them in my jersey pocket.

Sometimes I put them the arms inserted into my helmet (glasses upsidedown) and haven't noticed an issue with the arms bending.

I wear Oakley Jawbones.

My photochromatics go almost fully clear so I can wear them in the dark. If I did need to carry them it would be in a jersey pocket.

I always carry the soft bag thing that comes with oakleys for two reasons:

1. If my glasses get wet/sweaty/dirty I can clean them; and

2. I pop the glasses in there and put them in my back jersey pocket.

But then other people won't know you've got Oakleys.

I use Rudy photyochromatics and never take them off, in fact I forget I'm wearing them most of the time.

You mean they don't throw a couple of "discreet" hemlet sized logo stickers into the pack?

They won't stretch over the helmet .
I usually clip mine back of Jersey on the collar
