Hi Guys, Im Tina, long long time reader but first time posting and that's because ive finally found my very own Malvern star and I love it, I think its a 2 star, its a ladies bike with beautiful old leather seat, it has the numbers 5M 11007 stamped on the frame where the seat bolts on, im guessing that's an age thing if anyone can tell me that, the rear fork sorta part un bolts too which is unusual for me, anyhoo I look forward to chatting with you all soon,
cheers Tina

Hello and welcome. I see you've already found the retro biking sub forum where you are likely to find answers you seek. There's a few retro riders based in Tassie too.

Cheers,

Welcome Tina. No clue on the Malvern Star but make sure your seat stays are in good condition before taking it out for a spin.

Welcome from a fellow Taswegian.
The "mainlanders" can only dream about the brilliant cycling we have in Tassie. :D

Hi Tina,

The M in your serial number probably indicates that it was manufactured in Melbourne. The numbers don't mean much to me not being all that interested in Malvern Star despite owning a 1954 3-star. Go over to the Retro Bicycle forum and post some pictures and somebody there will be able to date it for you.
It would not be at all strange if history came to the conclusion that the perfection of the bicycle was the greatest achievement of the nineteenth century.
