Garmin 510, 6 months on

Postby djw47 » Wed Jul 03, 2013 1:32 pm

I'm considering purchasing a Garmin 510 in the next couple of months. I know there was a lot of criticism of these not long after they were released but also remember upgrades came out that fixed a lot of the problems. How are those who have one getting on with it? Is it a worthwhile investment?

My cousin won a 510, and sold it because he preferred his 500. Think that says it all.

Latest firmware has ironed out pretty much all of the bugs to the point that it just "works" now. Menus are smarter and easier to use than the 500. Overall, the 510 is nicer to use, easier to use, prettier to look at and more functional.

The only real sticking point I can see is the size - once you get over the fact that it's a fair ways bigger than the 500 then it's all good, but until then you'll think it's monstrously huge. The extra size is used well imho

Is the battery life as good on the 510? Can it run for 12 hrs?
