Glad I bought a BMC and not a Dutch shopping bike, as tempting as it may have been.

BMC have been in the wind tunnel putting the finishing touches on a basket for the handlebars.

I'm pretty sure Jan Heine demonstrated that there was an aero advantage to having a handlebar bag fitted.

Cheers,

Didn't know the BMC was that heavy... Don't feel so bad about my reasonably priced bike being the same weight. :)

The journo should have gone out a bit faster on the first run.

As usual, too much emphasis on weight (probably because it's an easy commodity to measure) where aero any tyres are going to be the biggest factors by far on a flat course. You could have weighted the BMC to match the other 3 bikes and the results wouldn't have changed much.

I just weighed my three bikes:
Rigid MTB, 2" wide road tyres with mudguards (wet/utility bike): ~12Kg
Rigid MTB: ~11.5Kg
CX/road: ~11Kg.
Yet the CX/road is at least 10% faster than either of the MTBs on a flat road course.

Change the video settings to the lowest resolution?
Get a faster connection speed?

While obviously this was done for fun, I would have liked to have seen a run where the journo had the 6000 pounds worth of BMC and the track guy had a 400 pound (sterling) entry level road bike.
Then see them try and explain why the journo was so much slower in terms of the bike
Cheers

Uh, it's not a youtube vid, and there are no adjustable settings. Tried it on a high speed office network and a cable home network.
It seems to be good now though... :?

The rider is everything. I should have offered my Trek 4.5 for the racer. It's the typical Saturday morning rider's bike.

The journo would have been thrashed.
