Would it be illegal to feed it... to my Magpie friends?

I think i was swooped today, just after UQ, heared a single thwap around my helmet, didn't see a thing though, lucky it was on the downhill section before the hilly bit so i had a little speed.

Wattlebirds used to be considered very god eating - sweet.

The attacks are increasing, I rode a route that was safe last week, and got swooped by four different birds.

I don't mind the swooping or minor attacks, it's the nervousness before you are attacked that I don't like!

Must be coming to an end in the next few weeks!

Not necessarily, if it's a good season (and it seems to be) many breeds will clutch twice....

Half a dozen swoops including two helmet contacts this morning, both from the Forlonge St magpie.

Well I finished up on Saturday with 4 days of riding around the Albury/Wodonga area. Now back in swoop free Tassie. Final results for about 200km of riding:
Helmet hits: 28 = 56 points
Other swoops: 98
Total points: 154

Red Baron (Athllon Dve) magpie got me good on the way home. Hit me five times just behind the ear, around my sunnies. Surprisingly no blood. Shortly after, the Forlonge St one swooped me three times.

ok back of campbelltown heading towards eagle vale 3 feathered things( cant type these words very bad kids)
sitting in the tree one from head on 2 clicks of beak and duck to avoid applying breaks with words of go away U stupid feathered pillow stuffing then 2 seconds later one from behind 3 swoops and 3rd in tree is the umpire i guess slowing down to an almost stop P platers swerve to avoid me as i swerve to avoid the head on with a feather duster bearing a very noisy "get the .......outa my town" i say get off bike let cars go buy as its now a work zone and road works going crazy , would it be fair if i went back that way with a bag of marbles and my trusty slingshot (its just the all love in war theory i have) so how did i score ?

Got hit quite badly today. I can't remember how many swoops I got from other birds, but had five hit from the infamous Athllon Drive Red Baron. First one was on the cheek, which drew three little specks of blood. Thankfully the rest were on the helmet.

The Red Baron has it in for me. Kept coming at me, hitting me 8 times, most times grabbing on to my back and pecking my helmet.

Any Canberra people here? As a Melbourner passing through I enjoyed a great ride around the lake, then went up Mt Ainsley (top ride and view) to be swooped four times on one of the slowest parts of the climb. Since Tony Abbott apparently is a regular, can't the Federal police do something with their Uzis? They shouldn't hold back, I think it's a Bill Shorten supporter.

I'm in Canberra. Swoop city here... Once upon a time we had the federal government running our territory. Now we have a hopeless recombination of local/state government running the place. You can report birds, which results in a sign being put up warning people of a swooping bird. Whoopee

Ah. Saw one of those signs on Burley Griffin. Victorian councils don't even do that.

I liked the place anyway ... a commuter's dream, to be sure.

Yeah, commuting's pretty good. Half my commute is bike path and the rest is a nice wide-ish bike lane on the side of a road. The path is a little stop/start, but the bike lane rarely requires slowing let alone stopping - ups my average to 28-30km/h for the ~18km trip.

That said, the magpies are really out in force now. Had 3 swoops on Capital Circle, 5 hits between Beasly St and the top of Athllon hill, 2 hits from the baron and 3 swoops along Forlonge St.

Had a few swoops from my favourite magpies today. Lost count. One big hit on the helmet from the one around the corner from my place, which usually gets me several times. This one must have hurt him 'cos he didn't come back after that one. We'll see if he's a bit more shy tomorrow...
