He's doing well btw. He's been holding up a large photo of his 2 children for the first three minutes as he reads the comments given to him here.

It's scary reading those comments - and to think those people, many of them are crazy enough to go through with their threats too.

It is scary and it is one reason why we have taken life insurance out on myself. Wont bring me back but it will make things easier for the wife...financially at least. I think every cyclist should have some form of income/life insurance against themselves...especially if you have a family.

Well that was pretty scary experience. But when we get a chance to have a voice (which is very rare) we have to take the opportunity with both hands. There was a lot riding on today both personally and generally, and I did my best, as did the others present. There was so much emotion and adrenaline running through me, the moment I stopped I got the shakes and had to sit on my hands.

We should probably move to a "inquiry" thread to discuss the inquiry in more general terms. There's still 2 more hearings, and a committee report to come.

Edit: While we're still in this thread, I thought the chairman (Mr Howard Hobbs MP) did a very good job and was very adept at understanding the issues raised. Clearly some attention has been paid to the submissions as well. It was nice to sit there and see a little bit of democracy happening. I only hope something real will come about as a result.

I missed the live feed too, but thank you In Woods for going in and presenting this stuff to the commission.

Clearly there needs to be some education re cyclists and their rights on the road and the road rules judging by the same comments that get sprouted by the haters every time rego or cyclists gets a mention in the media, social or other....

I guess it's judgmental of me to pass comment regarding the poor spelling and grammar of the users who post the hate comments

Well done InTheWoods. Your submission was very professional & backing that up with a good delivery. A public submission with the formality of a parliamentary committee is not to be taken lightly & from all reports you did well - two thumbs up.

Some of these commenters need to realise something (well, more than something, a whole lot of things, but thats another story): the guy they "drive off the road" could be their idol, or the idol of a nation. In support I offer Fernando Alonso's figures for August:

Fernando Alonso: Some numbers from this August preparation;

- 1280km bicycle
- 96km running
- 21km Swim
- 16h gym
- 30h simulator

I'd like to see the entire Spanish population hunt someone down if they claim to have knocked FA off intentionally. And he's not the only motorsport figure to use a bike for fitness and training, as we know.

Try probably Hal the V8Supercar grid. That'd annoy the crap out if the bogan brigade. And Mark Skaife. And Warren Luffe. Etc...

Would it be wrong to say "you have a great head for radio", said the pot to the kettle :)

Oh & Womble don't mention the name Luff - I haven't forgiven nor forgotten the sins of the father for his snuff film.

Melea & her child in the trailer, aca 2012. I would link to it, but visiting the aca site makes my skin crawl. IIRC you ran a twitter campaign about it at the time.

Of course it now dawns on me that there may have been more than one
