Ned Kelly bike rack (rail rack)

Postby casual_cyclist » Wed Sep 18, 2013 2:05 pm

work is investigating installing Ned Kelly Bike Racks to replace horizontal racks because the horizontal racks take up too much room and the bike cage is getting too full.

Does anyone have any experience of these racks? Any issues?

Locking of frame to the structure can be troublesome. A longer vertical section would be better.
Ensure that the "prongs" which extend out and on which the wheel rests are covered in rubber.
Having some floor hoops is essential for those who cannot lift their bikes.

This was a common complaint by some smaller statured people, particularly the ladies, with some hanging hooks installed on a frame at my last place of work. Most guys didn't have any issue - but it being frustrating for some.
