Went to take my chainrings off and realized that the back screw requires a star allen key, am I right in thinking these are called torx Allen keys?

Most chainring bolts that are torx require a T30.

It's a hexalobular internal head. More commonly referred to as torx.

Half right. Allen keys are hexagonal, Torx keys are star-shaped (or hexalobular if you prefer). The two names do not combine.
I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.

In the automotive trade they are referred to as Torx bits.
