Now for the modern, a Passoni in Ti. Exclusivity and made to a very high standard but way too expensive for most of us.

Another make not seen much in Oz. I first came across a Casati some years back ridden by a certain Melbourne cycling identity who now operates a retro themed shop and it was beautiful in that timeless Italian style. Mind you he keeps his bikes in concourse condition always! And I thought mine were kept clean.

And finally an example of one of the greatest builders in steel of modern times (certainly if his waiting list is anything to go by) a Richard Sachs. Pity about the big /big combo and stem too high but good photos are hard to find. I first saw his work in the mid eighties when you could apparently walk into his Connecticut workshop, order and have it delivered within a year. His order book is now 7-8 years. A modern classic, always in the colours above. How many are hanging up in the homes of lawyers and doctors and not ridden I wonder?

Some people like comfort and "suited to purpose"

Those last 3 are all very nice uncle :8. I'd have some straight fork legs on that last one, but very nice.

Seen one like that in person. I think they needed to clean up the drool from the floor.

Meanwhile, I like this one - comfort and suited for purpose:

Difference here is that this one is mine. :) Seen here after a quick clean up, so the chain and cassette are unusually clean. Pedals are Ultegra PD-6700-C and the stem is Giant Contact SLR 90mm. Saddle is Fizik Arione VS and tyres are GP4000S. The default Giant PSLR (see Propel above) tyres have never been used.

No brooks :P

And the tube diameters looked larger to me. I don't like narrow tubing.

Looks good :)
Should ride well.

Well I can't complain about it. It is a great bike to ride.

If it were a car, it'd be a Mercedes E-Class. Steady, sure footed and quicker than you expect. I'm very pleased with it.

Yeah, it's interesting. I posted it in the other bikes thread. It's very different.

I didn't notice your post. They've tried this "beam bike" style before though (Trek Y-Foil etc.), so it's nothing new, perhaps just a modern take on it.

It would get a lot of attention. It's just really weird having a whole chunk of carbon fibre that isn't there.

Just came across this somewhere in the interwebs, and it really caught my eye. Columbus XCR frame with what must be a Enve fork.

Hard to believe GL could grind through the Alpes on that freewheel without EPO. He was a machine.

Is that Concorde what you're aiming to do with yours?

If you like the look of that Lemond, I think you'll like my upcoming build. I'll keep it a secret for now though

Mine will be:
-Chromed rear, forks and lugs, with yellow main tubrs fading to white in the centres of each.
-Honey brown or mustard Super Turbo saddle and matching Brooks bar tape.
-Athena 11sp (laser engraved Campag logos) with natural coloured brifter hoods.
-Polished Ambrosios with gumwal or full gum coloured Slicks - preferably Clement's.

You had me at "L" with the new project.
