Finally...my first century
Postby wayno » Sat Jun 28, 2008 6:52 pm
Well, it was 101.28km.
I set out to crack the century and at about 70km mark was feeling a little tired due to minimal riding lately and had thoughts of going home but I pushed on with the help of a carb gel and a nibble on the powerbar and I slowly recovered. Once the 90km mark came I got my second wind and powered home with a grin.
I averaged 27.9km/h, although not breaking any records, I did take it pretty easy at the start trying to maintain a high cadence of 90rpm+. All in all a good day and I even feel ok now as well.
mmm....time to decide on the next goal.

Yes very good, I'm still struggling to get my first century. Time's my biggest enemy cause I only average 22 to 24 kph on long rides I need to allow about 5 hours.
Every time I see some achieve the century it spurs me on. Early spring when daylight savings is my goal.
Again well done

Top stuff Wayno!
I'm sure most people you tell will say you are crazy! If only they knew how good it is to ride that far!

Great ride Wayno. It's a revelation to cross the line of a century ride. You suddenly realise that such distances are achievable, even normal. Now go for the 100miles (160kms) then the 200kms is almost doableBoognoss wrote:Grats Wayno. It's always nice to crack on of your goals. Of course now you have to come up with another one . 160km (imperial century)?
