Yep one has failed completely the other two not far off......being a little uneducated on ceramic bearings not sure if 6000 km is reasonable or not?Storm Boy wrote:Are all the rear wheel bearings worn then?

My wheels are fine - still spin nicely. 6000km seems low for them to be completely shot and in need of replacment. Could they just be serviced (pulled apart, re greased/packed and re-assembled)?

From what I am being advised no...(I do trust my mechanic)cerb wrote:I've done a bit over 6000km and have wheels from the first delivery. I didn't get ceramic bearings though.

Yea I may do, wheels are out of warranty I would be just curious to see what they believe the life should be. At this stage I will not replace with ceramic expensive change every 6000km or so.cerb wrote:Shoot an email to SwissSide I reckon.

Yes i fully understand that they are a wear/replaceable component. My question here and to Swissside is what would be a reasonable life expectancy for the ceramic bearing upgrade they offer and I have purchased. If 6000km is deemed to be acceptable so be it. Based on that and some research I have now conducted it would seem that it's an expensive upgrade for little benefit.Lukeyboy wrote:Bearings are a wearing component. Rain, wind, dust, dirt, cleaning, degreaser etc etc will play a part in how quick they wear. Similar to a chain. Some can get 10,000km before it needs to be changed while others will be forced to change it after 200km.
For the record Immaculately maintained bikes(wheels have been on two) dry weather use only.

I guess you won't be replacing them with ceramic anyway.

Hi Andrew.
Thanks a lot for your email and the photos! Nice bike!
Sorry that you’ve had some bearing issues. From the image, as we can see some rust, it looks like there has been some water ingress on the rear wheel. Unfortunately even if you don’t ride in the rain, water can get into the freehub mechanism during washing which is to be avoided. Normally we would expect a lot great mileage from bearings than this. We have test wheels with over 20’000km still running smoothly.
As it looks like you’ve got bearings out, we’re assuming that you’ve already had them changed. We’d be happy to send you another set of rear bearings as a replacement for the future. Also, we do have a new freehub seal in our 2016 spec of hubs so we can send you one of those too to upgrade your current one.
Please send us your current shipping address and we will have these sent to you asap.
Regards,
Stacy & Your Swiss Side Team

As I explained to them in the my email I was not making a complaint as I was a happy Swissside customer. I was seeking clarification on bearing life and providing them with some real world customer feed back. Very happy with the way they handled it.......now that there is an upgraded free hub seal hopefully it wont be an issue in the future.cerb wrote:Good response! They even sell ceramic bearings for bottom brackets. Well worth it.

Here is part of the email response from Swiss Side when I asked them. The information was exactly what HSC needed and they were able to send out the required bearings without any hassle or fuss. The quantity are correct as the Hadrons double up on the number of bearings compared to most other wheels.Dave_C wrote:Which model suites the Hadrons? Worth knowing for when mine need doing
All HADRON wheels are built with Enduro Bearings. The specs for the rear and front hubs are listed below:
Front:
• 688 (8 x 16 x 5) x 4 pcs
Rear:
• 6902 (15 x 28 x 7) x 1pcs
• 6802 (15 x 24 x 5) x 4pcs (2 for Freehub & 2 for Hub Body)
