This is gonna hurt!

Postby TraceyG » Wed Apr 02, 2014 4:41 pm

Oh dear, I think this is going to hurt! The Lions District 201V3 Ride for Sight starts tomorrow morning - less than 48 hours after I got off a two-plane trip from Orlando, Florida.

Training was corrupted due to poor air quality caused by the Hazelwood coal mine fire and then my trip to the US.

Oh, well, at least it's a short leg to start, only 90km. Gulp!

Keep an eye out for the crew, 50 riders plus support crew starting in Drouin tomorrow morning heading down to Phillip Island, then across to Leongatha on Friday, to Trafalgar on Saturday and then a half day to finish back in Drouin on Sunday.

On the positive side, what better way to deal with the jet lag.

Good luck Tracey! Will you be able to do it at "your" speed or are you riding as a group?
What's the total distance across the three and a half days?

C'mon, any day on a bicycle (even a tortuous one) is better than any day off a bike! :D

No pain, no gain etc......

All the best with it.
3rd class cycling is always better than 1st class walking

Hi Tracey,

Sounds like a great weekend coming up, I’m envious and I’m sure you will have great time.

Cheers,
Tom

Good luck, you'll be fine as soon as you start pedalling.

Thanks everyone. Well, apart from a couple of really steep hills that saw me walking (along with many others, I might add), I made it! Total distance was 340km over three and a half days. A fun bonus was cycling around the Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit. The surface was glass smooth and the views were magnificent.

It was terrific being back on the bike and although I am sore, it was still incredibly satisfying to finish and to know that we have raised closed to $50,000 for research into preventable blindness.
