Ceramic Clearcoating a frame?

Postby acb » Sat Apr 05, 2014 1:40 am

I have a very nice NOS frame coming from OS and given it's going to be ridden, often, I was contemplating getting it ceramic clearcoated >> http://www.paintmybike.com.au/Repaints.aspx

Does anyone have any experience with this? Scratch / bump resistance is what Im mainly interested in.

Cheers

Never heard of it so I googled it.

I have not made another video, but the clear is awesome and works excellent....short and long term!

Can't really help but it sounds good.

They have used it for years on high performance cars, besides in the engine for heat. I have seen it being used on painting tappet covers and wheels, I cant see a big benefit or have notice any difference from a good two pack paint. It still scratches the same from my experience and lasts the same time. Unless you like throwing your bike in an oven over 200c cant see the benefit from it.

Sounds like Ceracoat...
A VERY popular & highly regarded treatment for metal parts from my other hobby...

There's also a teflon version thats super nice & slippery!
A few nanometers thick & superb performance for surface protection.
