Like I said, a little reading and you might get there. No need to be churlish for being proved wrong. All you need do is read and live with the fact you got it wrong. No big deal.

I have no issue with being proven wrong.

My wife does it to me constantly.

However, I take issue with your condescending response to my post, particularly given your rather limited number of posts on BNA.

I fail to see the merit to your objection. You have been proven wrong. The number of posts to my credit has nothing to do with the veracity of the information provided.

You haven't actually proven anything, apart from an ability to allude to specification in technical documentation.

I'd suggest a more conciliatory attitude might enhance your overall BNA experience - unless of course you're deliberately setting out to crap on people, in which case carry on.

In other news, I fitted a new fork to the Trek this morning. No photo though.

Grabbed a generic carbon/alloy steerer job from Ribble. $100 delivered, but standard carbon/black - sorry Luke. I did switch the cage though ;)

Like this....

Nice taper to the dropouts, and a relatively narrow shoulder which suits the dimension of the Cane Creek headset reasonably well.

Actually, I have. The technical specification proves that person's claims incorrect. Wholeheartedly. I fail to see why a more conciliatory attitude is required to disprove inaccurate information, unless you have some desire to defend inaccurate claims.

Spot on Shaun.

No, you haven't. All you've proven is that the spec says 8 - 15mm, not that other strategies won't be similarly successful.

Anyway, welcome. Maybe start a thread in the Shed instead?

Strategies for what? I pointed out three things. A short chain, Campagnolo's specification on 11s and the reality of only two cage sizes for 11s. Odd that there should be so much attention for something so small.

The Campagnolo-recommended method for setting chain length is equally valid to the others as well, and is the method I prefer to use. The beauty of it is that it will allow you to swap out to any cassette that the derailleur is designed to handle without altering chain length.

As for that pic under intense discussion, I'd say the chain is barely long enough; another pair of links would be better.
I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.

My old hack:
(after the mediocre ski season it is time to get back on the bike to keep the arthritis at bay.)

TCR Adv1 2010, Ultegra, RS80 wheel set, Conti 4000, Cinelli Carbon/Kevlar stem 120mm, FSA K-Wing 44cm bars, SMP Glider saddle. Not a fancy euro bike but good enough for a retiree like me.
