Ugly, like an opinion, is relative I guess.

I'm more interested in performance than having a bike looking totally bling. I do like it though and I know it's not a pinerello looking bike but after riding the S5 there are not too many comparisons :) just my opinion of coarse.

Some harsh comments on your new bike Nick but I like it! Completely different to anything else I have seen recently. Looks like it absolutely flies :P

Nice bike Nick. I don't mind the looks of the Cervelo S5 (almost bought the 2012 team edition but the store and others had supplier issues last year) but that colour scheme they brought out I don't like. They haven't done a team edition livery for the 2013 S5 have they?

Svelt bike, that S5. It doesn't look like it's made to go slow, thats for sure.

Congrats on the purchase, I hope it gives you many good miles.

Now I reckon my KOM has about 3x the frontal area that thing has, so If I see you out, I'm sucking on your wheel. If I can catch you, that is :)

I love the S5's, and that looks sweet. I just wish they did a model with a horizontal top tube, i'd buy one tomorrow. Seriously dislike compact geo/long head tubes.

lukeyboy, to answer your question there are only 2 models of S5 this year.
the base and the VWD. the team edition has beed deleted.
the base models looks hot i think. its a little darker grey than mine. its more charcoal really and instead of white it has silver.

Hi Nick. Which features of the bike provide the extra performance you mention? Is it the aero design? It doesn't appear to be frame weight or stiffness according to this report.

My opinion only is the red bar tape destroys the entire look of the bike, why?

Not sure if it's intentional but I think it's quite clever as it mimics the shape and colour of the 5 on the seat tube.

Biker jk, not sure if your after a gee up or what, but aero frames have a proven record. Also the cervelo that they have on that chart is the base model S5 which is 300grams heavier and an inferior carbon layup. To my knowledge the S5 VWD is the lightest aero frame in the world. My size 56 is 960 grams. If I wanted light I would go for the R5 ca or r5 vwd.
There may be a lighter aero bike now as the s5 has been around for two years.
Just some facts for you........

It was intentional and after always having had black bar tape for years I left the decision to the bike builder. I'm happy :) i may go white in afew months :)

Nick, how does it go climbing? Or is it a specific purpose bike?
I've just ordered a BH Ultralight but did consider a G6 but was worried about comfort/position on long climbs. In a perfect world I'd have both, but given the choice of just one bike I went the Ultralight.

I feel all clever and such now!

Do you race or is it just an expensive present to yourself?
