The Cervelo and Merida really need saddle bags  .

very nice nick, you just need to get that stem cut as soon as possible! How do you find that saddle? Looking forward to seeing you race it soon!
thanks Phil. saddle is great, it takes care of the numbness i use to get.
i got bike fit yesterday, so stem will get cut in a week or two when i feel all is good.

Nice...does that rear wheel rub against the seat tube?
no, at its narrowest there is about 3mm clearance.

Can you fellas post more pics of the carradice and the rack it uses... I'm tempted to get one when my 10yo Dueter panniers finally die on me.

DanH, nice - but I think you could do with some longer valve extensions?

Just curious, certainly not p1ssed off. I really couldn't give a rats posterior, I am just curious how others carry all the gear.
You wear all that in Shoalhaven? You don't need a saddlebag you need a serious dose of HTFU.
My mate Adrain carries all of norbs' cans of HTFU in his bag every morning :D

I don't need any as I ride all year round in my Batman costume.

interesting that antipodean (and his ilk) have to comment on ppl's saddlebags/seatpost height/stem spacers.
if you want to pretend you're a pro, that's fine, but don't assume that everyone else is playing along.

Funny I tossed up a Giro 4 but the salesman was a jerk, so I went the Felt but obviously the Giro is a good bike

ps I aint taking the pi55, I think the orange tyres will look good
I just hope they are as tough as the Gatorskins. I doubt they will be, but for $19 I am happy to give them a go. http://www.this link is broken/vittoria-rubino-clincher-tyre/
Would not be concerned, rubinos are good, puncture protection is awesome, may not roll as easy as the tater's, 4.5k from my last set, enjoy.

Seems like antipodean should take a day off the HTFU and have few cans of S-T-F-U.

Thanks bongo, will report back on the Rubinos in a month or so. Will post a photo when they are on the bike.

My Caad9

Postby justanewbie » Fri May 11, 2012 4:35 pm

Hi all, been lurking and watching some nice bikes being posted, so I've decided to show off mine.
Here's my Caad9 I rode, until one unfortunate day when it was on my roof rack and...yeah...hit a height bar. There's a decent sized dint in the downtube (see photo 2) but its still rideable...although a bit unnerving so I've got a Caad10 on its way.

Hi rabobank89 - I like the look of that Giant. In fact, it looks a lot like mine. An awful lot actually

The bike is light, really quick and responsive. Beautiful up hills and in sprints, and it's easy to keep it humming on the flats. On the other hand, I'm getting belted around by the saddle. My last bike also had an Arione, albeit a different one from the range, so I am surprised by this. I'm interested in your experience. I haven't' decided on the cause - the new saddle is the same shape but firmer, and the bike itself is stiffer, and I have a longer reach due to a change in stem length, hence leaning further forward. Could be all three I suppose.

How is the long ride comfort on yours?

Whaddyer talking about? That looks fabulous in near unbadged cf. The chunky+ stem is not to my taste but it don't take much to plonk ione of 3Ts finest in its place.

Mrej - To be honest the saddle is comfortable for most long rides.. I have only found it uncomfortable after a 250km ride I did not long ago. It could perhaps be the fact your leaning a little forward. But in my experience every individual is different when it comes to saddles.

Have you adjusted the saddle position?

Yeah the chunky stem isnt the most attractive thing in the world however the edge 800 covers that whilst riding :P

Re the TCR with Arione saddle, I've had the fit adjusted by a bike fitter, and both raised the saddle and moved the hood up the bars a bit. End result - not as stretched to the hoods. Am also trying an Antares saddle.

So far so good. Although I can't decide whether it's a) the new fit b) the new saddle c) me just getting used to it or d) some combination of the above! End conclusion = it's working, so maybe I should just keep the new saddle.
