So santa visited me early 8) 8)

Image

Took it on a quick 20km ride today (crazy wind in Sydney today!) as my legs are still tired from a long fast ride yesterday on my (heavy) flat bar road bike. I can't wipe the smile off my face :D :D :D :D

You weren't happen to be riding down Willoughby road in Crows nest around 7.15 this morning?

Nice bling there Philip.

But now you won't have quite the cachet you used to: Riding a flat-bar with hub gears with the A-group riders - big points; riding some fancy-schmancy TREK bling - same old, same old. (I see running the morning rides are paying off for Renegade ;))

(Must have missed you by minutes up Willoughby Rd this morning.)

Yeah figured that must've been you :) - I think we've passed each other a couple of other times in that area (I used to ride a blue avanti flat bar)

I know! This is the only downside to having this bike  But since it's new and shiny, at this stage I really don't want to ride it in the rain, so if there's the tiniest chance that it's going to be slightly wet I'm going to ride the old bike :)

Yeah - and so they should I reckon. I did shop around and test ride a few others - the service I get at renegade is always good and the trek was what I felt best on, so I was happy to buy from them.

I couldn't find the bike I wanted so I just built this up majorly blowing out my budget  Picked it up today.

Tarmac SL frameset, SRAM Force, Barmac bars and Fulcrum racing 5 wheels for the moment.

I cannot believe how good it is compared to my old bike :D :D :D There's no going back now.

Can't post link to pic yet because of post count

Thanks for posting it toolonglegs.

It is bloody awesome. I just got back from a ride and realised how crap my old bike was.
For the first 20mins of the ride I thought my speedo was out because I was going about 2-3km hr faster with the same effort. I really didn't think I would notice that much difference but the correct fit and lighter weight makes a big difference. I averaged 2-3km faster over the entire ride as well.

Long story, but I got rid of the Teschner frame that I posted earlier in this thread, and put everything onto my Surly Pacer frame. Behold:

Image

06 Surly Pacer frame, Reynolds Ouzo fork, CK headset, 08 Centaur groupset, DT Swiss RR 1.2 rims on 28H DT 240 hubs. Thomson seatpost, Toupe saddle. 105 pedals.

This is my main training and racing bike now. In fact, I won the first crit I did on this setup :D

Nice... I like the white saddle and tape, but the bar tape is a bugger to keep white. I like the tries lining up with the rims too.
